DOS2 fandom, show me your Godwoken? Tell me about your Godwoken? (For example:) Who are they? What is their damage? What do they look like? Are there any differences between their in-game model and how you imagine them? What is their fighting style? Who do they love and why? Anything else you'd like to share about them?

Everyone who sees this post, consider yourself invited. And feel free to tag your friends if you'd like.

Just do it. This is a threat.

AAAAHHHH THANK YOU FOR TAGGING ME. I normally stumble into peoples blogs and ask them about their godwoken! it's so exciting to see everyone's ideas and designs.

Ok ok here's my coulda been god:

(comm from /biteghost

Who are they?

This is my godwoken Chrysaliss or rather Chrys. She's a wandering hero type with a thirst for revenge that ends up fighting a monster in Arx getting captured by magisters.

What is their damage?

Like mentally? Ya know that saying no man is an island well she really wants to be an island. Wants to help anyone else but gets really confused people want to help them in turn. Physically she's a physical damage dealer with a tiny bit of fire magic in there. Honestly is better with Source magic than fire.

What do they look like?

Chrys is 5'8 and has amber eyes black hair and brown skin. there's a notable scar on her nose and scars littered on their body. Their hair is normally in two braids that meet in the middle for a bun.

Are there any differences between their in-game model and how you imagine them?

I give her a little extra bulk to the middle. Her hair is black (i actually originally started a run as lohse realized i wasn't even using loshe's options but the warrior ones so made a separate character.) Something i don't touch on often is her hairs braided and gets pretty curly when it's out. sometimes people draw it straight and i need to add a picture of what it'd look like outside of it.

What is their fighting style?

Fighter who should really stop getting back up. Eventually becomes tank in act 3. I give her an upgrade on the Dome of Protection making it more an impenetrable wall during the Act 3 fight against (REDACTED). I wanted her to have her own fun source skill.

Who do they love and why?

They love all the godwoken little found family asses :). Bare minimum they get together yearly for drinks and shit talking. But romantically Ifan. Ifan and Chrys could have murdered each other in act 1. But a singular act of kindness sparked them into being something different. Ifan's the first one to call her out for self sacrificing bs and they are the one to make Ifan question things.

Anything else you'd like to share about them?

She gets to pet Afrit >:3

Tagging:

OMGGGGGGGG Thanks for tagging me @divinityiswasted!!!!!!!!! This has been sitting in my drafts for ages, but I just remembered it and thought I'd finish it up!

Who are they?

This is Artemisia! (Artie to her friends) She was a dopey hedge witch who got picked up by the magisters because she was too oblivious to the current political climate to know that maybe she shouldn't do source magic in public. She's now the de facto leader of the Riot Girls, a strictly ladies-only team consisting of herself, Lohse, and Sebille (later expanded to include hired-muscle-turned-bestie Yastara). She's smart but a massive herbo, and she's none too sure about this divinity stuff people keep bugging her about.

What is their damage?

Her experience at Fort Joy fully radicalized her, and she doesn't trust anyone in a position of power further than she can teleport them. Which is all well and good, but her whiplash journey from the terrifying powerlessness of her Fort Joy stint to the overwhelming power of godwoken-hood has left her with a lot of anger and a lot of fun ways to vent it on the world.

Are there any differences between their in-game model and how you imagine them?

I know elves are canonically telephone poles in this world, but I like to imagine Artie is on the shorter side, at least compared to her fellow elves.

What is their fighting style?

Pyro/necromancer who also knows how to hit stuff real good. Her go-to strategy is to bring in her faithful bone widow (Spiderella) early in the fight, then start chucking fireballs.

Who do they love and why?

Artie didn't stand a chance the moment Sebille put that needle to her throat. She'd go to the absolute ends of the earth for Sebille, and if Seb wants to go on the occasional murder spree, Artie's certainly not going to judge and she's probably going to help out. The more Sebille finds that her darker side isn't going to scare Artie off, the more she feels able to let her softer side show.

SO I'm gonna ramble about a thing, I guess.

I love this game so much! But I feel like if there's one big complaint I have about it, it's that I have never felt like it gave me a genuine reason to feel motivated towards the goal of becoming Divine. I mean as a disclaimer, I tend to lean really heavily into the roleplay aspect of any game I play, and I get really invested in playing my characters authentically and having them do what they would really do, and obviously that approach is ultimately better suited to TTRPGs than video games where you often just have to accept that the game's goals are your goals whether you relate to them or not. Which is fine and that's why I also play dnd.

And also, I've been told that if you play an origin character this is a little bit less of an issue, because their backstories give them personal reasons for wanting to be Divine. And I can't speak to that because I've only played as my gal Artemisia.

But it feels to me like Divinity is essentially a position that gives you a godlike amount of power, and if absolute power is something that feels appealing to you or your character, then it works, but if it doesn't, then it kind of falls flat and feels like you are just doing all these things because the game told you to.

Like when I started, I had the idea of Artemisia as being this sort of dopey hedge-witch who got dropped into all this larger political stuff and was in a bit over her head with it. In Fort Joy she was mostly motivated to escape. By the time she got to Reaper's Coast her experiences had radicalized her, so she was more actively motivated to work against the Magisters, but if anything seeing all these power players in the world being so evil in pursuit of absolute power made her all the more convinced that no one should really have the level of power that Divinity entailed.

Like I don't know, maybe I should have just made a character who would want that kind of power more? But when so much of the game is focused on the enormous amounts of harm done by people with too much power who are convinced that they deserve even more, it feels weird to then have the highest goal of the game be to acquire absolute power more or less for its own sake. Idk, I just feel like they could have done a better job setting up the story so any type of character would have some plausible reason to think Divinity was a thing they should want.

And boy oh boy am I gradually getting more and more consumed by anxiety that the game is going to railroad me into fighting Sebille and Lohse. All the other stuff I just said is really just me kvetching because I want every game I play to be all roleplay all the time, and ultimately I know this is a video game and not dnd and having your choices limited is part of that and it's fine. But if I get forced to fight these gals after spending untold hours of gameplay befriending them and flirting with them and getting super attached to them and emotionally invested in their relationships, I am Actually Going to Be Very Upset.

Like oh my gosh it's dropping so many hints that that's what's going to end up happening and I just really really really really hope there's a way around it because no one wants to see me cry while playing this game.
