Yesterday I came across someone’s experience of paying for art commissons of their fat characters and, upon receiving them, finding out that the artist had drawn them as thin.

I thought it would be a good idea to list some of the artists on tumblr that I follow/reblog from who include fat designs in their art always, not only when it is commissioned to them (which I found out is a good indicator of the respect they actually have). Some of them do commissions, others sell their own products.

I thought that this would not only help those who want to commission or buy art but also those who simply want to follow artists who post fat designs without having to search the tags and encounter an immense amount of fatphobia and highly hateful content (if you regularly search the tags, you know what I’m talking about).

If you are an artist who includes fat characters in your art, especially if you do commissions, please reblog this post and add yourself to the list. If you don’t use tumblr frequently you can also add another handle or link for people to be able to find you and contact you about your work!  As a side note for whoever needs the heads up, not all of the platforms are completely sfw.

Some of my top reblogged from:

Some further recommendations from other sources (not all of them on tumblr):

Special thanks to @fatphobiabusters and @worth-beyond-a-number-scale who frequently share fat art and have showcased some of these artists.

I adore that riverside iowa just decided one day that they were where kirk was born and the writers were just like fuck it why not

Imagine growing up in a town that's had a plaque celebrating your birth for more than 200 years before you were born

imagine how many people in Riverside in the early 2200s are going to change their last name to Kirk in the hopes that they can be the special couple who gets lucky enough (they're definitely going to have scheduled insemination but still these things aren't perfectly plannable) to have a baby born on March 22 that they get to name James Tiberius

something I love love love about Strange World (2022) is how they use the generational divide in occupation/behavior and family/social relationships of the three leads to represent the changing relationship between mankind and the environment

jaeger clade is an explorer whose aim is to "discover", he wants to find things nobody has found before in exchange of a sense of identity, not really caring about learning, he moves forward without looking at where he's at, which also distances him from his wife and strains his relationship with his son, who he'll have to learn to listen to in order to reconnect

this represents a stage in which mankind was intent of "conquering" nature, disrupting its balance with the aim of "owning" a piece of it, without caring about what their involvement would mean for the space or the species

searcher clade is a farmer whose aim is to "settle", he finds a resource that can help his community and takes it, creating a successful energy source but without caring to study it or learn where it comes from, and although he has a loving family, his fear of losing it makes him force things to stay as they are forever, which will require him to change his perspective to keep

this represents a stage in which mankind, although more understanding of nature and its processes, uses resources without caring about the consequences of said use, how renewable or not renewable they might be or how their abuse can impact the environment as a whole

ethan clade grows up playing a tabletop game in which the aim is to live peacefully with the environment, he wants to learn about things rather than "discover" them, heal those who are harmed and help things alongside their journey into what they're supposed to do, he has a crush on a boy that returns his feelings and, instead of settling in one place, they travel through those places that need their help

this represents a stage in which mankind is trying to coexist with nature and, at least part of it, is starting to understand that everything has a space and function in the environment as a living thing, understanding how things work can allow us to respect nature and live together in a less destructive harmony

all of this happening in a surface environment that is ACTUALLY a leaving, breathing organism, to really bring the point home with a bang

I still think an will always think that it's a great movie

Star Trek SNW S1E10 A Quality of Mercy // Star Trek TOS S1E14 Balance of Terror

I love how it's evidenced, in the alternate view in SNW, that the war being avoided in Balance of Terror isn't just due to Jim and Spock's roles in the situation and Jim's pivotal decision, but also due to the fact that, by the time that happens, they already had been working together seamlessly. Their positions in SNW are always in agreement, even if they had just met in this alternate view into a different future, but Pike's presence makes the situation turn out differently (which ultimately makes him understand that Jim should be in command by the time that happens rather than him). It isn't just Jim and Spock being there in different roles, it's them being there together as an established team.
