just rewatched an ep that included a fucking insane story told by dean and sam about john that i absolutely must right a fic about holy shit im losing my mind.
okay, first of all, it’s an incredible story. second of all, the last bit of it is completely nonsensical and out of character. i don’t even have words for how nonsensical i find it that dean would get away with telling john he hates him or that he would reflect so many years later that john really raised him right (bc lol, your an emotionally stunted alcoholic who believes himself incapable of receiving love), BUT i will choose to run with the headcanon that john carted home a completely smashed dean and genuinely took care of him, even though dean was apparently a whiny baby about it (which, again, lol, you literally have told sam you felt john never looked at you the same for leaving sam during the striga case, but apparently ditching sam a few years later to get drunk at a punk club and getting caught by your dad was embarrassing instead of traumatizing, sure jan).
anyway. im just sitting here with my jaw dropped still.
no but actually i love 95% of that scene, i really do. i think it’s a great bittersweet memory, i could just do without the revisionism.

okay so watching it again, sam was WITH john, so it does make sense dean would leave. retract that from my earlier statement pls.
and also dean saying the three of them spent the whole day together seeing the sights and eating pizza fucking kill me that’s so sweet ughghghghgh.
