the next day, bjorn, ubbe, halfdan and (y/n) stand at the ready line, overlooking the field, right into the eyes of ivar and his army.

(Y/n) is trying to think calmly, trying to zone her mind out, tying not to think that it was ivar and hvitserk she were to fight to death with on this day.

Blood. 41.

“what is wrong, love?” ivar asks, sitting beside her in a mossy nook in the forest. away from everyone else.

Blood. 3.

(y/n) is crying, holding on to her brother hvitserk so tight, hvitserk doesn’t mind, he’s holding her back, shushing her softly.

all the brothers looks from their sister to their father.

ivar turns to her, his gaze lowering and lifting down her body, which was clad in armor.

he hated that she was in this situation with him and his brothers. but what could he do? she was just as vengeful as they were. and she had every right to be, she loved ragnar just as much, if not more than them. his own children.

“i can not watch you out there”.

“i know” she answers back softly, still not turning to look at him.

“i can not help you”.

“i know”.

ivar sighs, turning to her and making her face him, his palm on her cheek with a stern yet loving touch.

“watch yourself”. though his words were meant to hold authority, he couldn’t find it in him to be angry with her or her decisions right now, not when he could lose her or possibly his own life.

he wanted to just tie her up and keep her out of harm's way.

she smiles. she just smiles, placing her palm over his and nodding.

“do not worry. i am a lothbrok, am i not?”.
