D坂の殺人事件 (1998) | 監督 実相寺昭雄
#GOD im thinkin about murder on D street again#fukiya is so sad but hes also so. sinister. like as a character#u can't help but sympathize with him but you KNOW even before it happens that he IS capable of that violence#a rlly interesting way to adapt a detective story. akechi is only actually in this movie for a few scenes. it's mostly fukiya#the detective is less important than the murderer. its neat#but AUCH. hes so. hes so isolated and meticulous and he clearly has an awareness of his sense of self. it's just not one thats. allowed#hes so distinct from everything around him. made especially obvious by the connections all the other characters have with each other#saito in particular and particularly in a sexual context. but even otherwise#every other character is connected by some form of external acquaintance. but fukiya interacts with people only because of his work#with the forgeries. im actually rlly curious about the first scene where we set him. not counting the opener with the flashback#where hes at the funeral. that's the only time we see him connected to anyone outside of when tokiko asks him to make those forgeries#and everything that leads to. but even then it's a reasonable assumption that he knew the dead man via his work#because in talking about him they mention that he was an artist. so fukiya may have known him from a forgery job#and if not. from his legit work doing restorations#like???? does he have any family? does he have any friends? he knows nobody. hes just there#consumed in his work and in his image. he was already like this. the akegarasu works and all the Events just exacerbate it#OIGHUH. NORMAL ABOUT MOVIES#anyway. i gotta watch this again bro. its been too long (like a month)#Murder on D Street
