Not feminist as in "women should be included in the draft" but feminist as in "being drafted is a violation of bodily autonomy for any gender".
The draft should not exist. Drafting people into the military is a violation of human rights. You should not be able to force someone to risk their life. If you can't find enough people who care about a conflict to keep it going then it simply shouldn't keep going. You can't even force someone to donate a kidney using government power, why the fuck can you force them to donate their whole body and life to a cause they don't agree with or don't care about?
the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.
btw this is maybe the single most key distinguishing feature of the terfy strains of radical feminism, the seed all the rest of it springs out of: they have absolutely no faith in the ability of feminism to actually destroy patriarchy. they do not think feminism can truly build a better world. they cannot really even imagine that possibility. they think patriarchy is an inevitable natural consequence of unchangeable biological facts, and therefore the goal of feminism can only be to mitigate the worst effects of patriarchy, not to get rid of it.
they can imagine a society where women get some designated safe spaces without men around. they cannot imagine a society where the presence of men is not inherently a danger to women.
“Frances and I were considering attending a Lesbian/Feminist conference this summer, when we were notified that no boys over ten were allowed. This presented logistic as well as philosophical problems for us, and we sent the following letter: Sisters: Ten years as an interracial lesbian couple has taught us both the dangers of an oversimplified approach to the nature and solutions of any oppression, as well as the danger inherent in an incomplete vision. Our thirteen-year-old son represents as much hope for our future world as does our fifteen-year-old daughter, and we are not willing to abandon him to the killing streets of New York City while we journey west to help form a Lesbian-Feminist vision of the future world in which we can all survive and flourish.”
— Audre Lorde, Sister Outsider: “Man Child: A Black Lesbian Feminist’s Response." (This essay in particular was apparently first published in 19-fucking-79, which is how long this conversation's been going on.)
I continue to love how easily people are believed in Star Trek. If your crewmate and friend says they believe something is happening to them, you fucking believe them.
You give Keiko video evidence of her husband's death, and she says this is faked my husband never drinks coffee in the afternoon. You ask a few questions, and then you hop in a runabout to go investigate.
Beverly Crusher tells you her friend has disappeared, but there's no record that he ever existed. Ask questions. Believe her. Investigate that shit.
It makes a lot of sense, when they regularly wind up in bizarre and dangerous situations. You absolutely should operate on the assumption that whatever someone is experiencing is real until proven otherwise. But also, I can't think of any other show where Keiko would be believed when she says that it can't be Miles in the video.
one of the things i've been frustrated with when running this blog is the lack of Native actors among all the hotties I showcase. so I was extra delighted to see this article in the New York Times, covering the career of stage actress Go-won-go Mohawk! while she didn't apparently work in films, she was an accomplished actress and playwright in the late 1800s who created her own plays where she dressed in drag and told stories of Native heroism. A very cool read, and an interesting lady to know about.
YESSS Go-won-go Mohawk my beloved!!!!

My actual favorite image of them (sorry, look at this Wilde-esque energy. I refuse to believe they were cisgender)
Also a delightful image of her in more specifically Haudenosaunee women’s regalia. Look at that smile!!!
@wigwamcore oh my god thank you these are so beautiful!! the seated wilde one is insane, I love it so much & i'm a little mad the new york times did not use that as the cover picture
hey you guys should watch Star Trek bc you can get sent back to the 1930’s by a beyond godlike talking space donut with a SUUUPER tweaked out McCoy after he accidentally drugged himself w his own meds screwing up time and scaring civilians meanwhile Spock and Kirk are in a domestic partnership while running from the cops and volunteering at a soup kitchen all in the same episode. also Joan Collins is there

On his head is the double crown 'Pa-sekhemty' (pꜣ-sḫm.ty; “the two powerful ones”). It is a combination of the crown of Upper Egypt 'Hedjet' (ḥḏt) and the crown of Lower Egypt 'Deshret' (dšrt). The crown symbolized power and control over two lands.

lindt is being sued in a class action in the united states because they are one of MANY brands of chocolate that tested high for heavy metals. and this is despite lindt claiming their chocolate is "expertly crafted with the finest ingredients". no recall was issued after the tests came out. lead and cadmium can fuck the body over BAD.
lindt's genius defense is that they are going to stop saying the whole thing about being expertly crafted with the finest ingredients, so nobody can complain about the heavy metals in their chocolate anymore! and that makes it okay. source: trust me bro
(now please drop the lawsuit thanks)

it was kind of 'adorkable' when you flayed my flesh
