Why The Reveal Should Not Happen Before Marinette And Adrien Fall For Both Of Each Other’s Sides

Ok, so I really don’t think having the reveal before Marinette falls for Chat Noir and Chat Noir falls for Marinette would be a good thing. I mean, if Adrien knows that Marinette is Ladybug before falling for Marinette, he’ll be falling for Marinette just because she’s Ladybug. And that’s not fair to Marinette, she deserves someone who loves her for herself, not for her alter ego, not for her superhero persona. Same for Adrien. Everyone loves Adrien, everyone loves Ladybug, but so few people love and appreciate Marinette and Chat Noir. I just want both Mari and Chat to know that people love them just for them, not because they’re a confident superheroine (Ladybug) or a pretty boy model (Adrien). If Adrien and Marinette find out each other’s secret identities before they fall completely for both of each other’s halves, then Adrien will always love Ladybug a bit more than Marinette, and Marinette will always love Adrien a bit more than Chat, and that’s not fair to either of them.

I see fics and comics where Adrien finds out Mari is Ladybug, and then suddenly starts pursuing Marinette and flirting with her and all that, and when Mari calls him out on it and says she doesn’t want to be loved for Ladybug, Adrien says he loves both Marinette and Ladybug. Now it’ll all good that people give that explanation, but it doesn’t cut it. If Adrien loved Marinette (just Marinette), he’d be pursuing her long before he found out she was Ladybug, not literally 5 minutes after he finds out. It’s the same for Mari finding out Chat is Adrien (though I see this much less than I see the Ladybug reveal). Don’t you think Marinette and Chat Noir deserve to have someone love only them, for themselves? Marinette has her fair share of admirers, sure, but Nathanael seems to have gotten over Marinette and moved on to Ladybug (which I’m still extremely mad about), Nino’s with Alya now (which I’m really happy about tbh it was always meant to be), and no one has ever shown romantic attraction towards Chat Noir. Marinette and Chat deserve to be loved fully for who they are, not for their personas as Ladybug or Adrien.

My point is, if we want these two kids to actually, genuinely love both parts of each other, without bias, without loving one part more than the other, then we need Marinette to love both Adrien and Chat and for Adrien to love both Marinette and Ladybug before the reveal.

The Fourth of July is coming up very soon. For a lot of you it’s a time to celebrate your freedom and independence and love for your country.

But fireworks, parties, patriotism, and copious amounts of alcohol make already stupid people do dangerous things.

The Fourth of July weekend is notorious for violence. In 2017 more than 100 people were shot over the holiday. 15 people were killed.

We know the social climate currently. We know what’s happening. We know who is being targeted. And we need to be there for them.

Do what you can. If there’s a protest happening, join it. If you have family members or neighbours who are at risk, check up on them. Help people escape escalating situations. Walk someone home. Spend the day calling your senators. Even small acts can make a huge impact.

You can’t celebrate freedom if so many of you aren’t free.

And please be safe.

HOUSTON — It’s looking as if 2017 could become the year when the anti-vaccination movement gains ascendancy in the United States and we begin to see a reversal of several decades in steady public health gains. The first blow will be measles outbreaks in America.

Measles is one of the most contagious and most lethal of all human diseases. Such a commission would be a throwback to the 2000s, when Representative Dan Burton of Indiana held fruitless hearings and conducted investigations on this topic. And a documentary alleging a conspiracy at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe,” has recently been shown around the country.

As a scientist leading global efforts to develop vaccines for neglected poverty-related diseases like schistosomiasis and Chagas’ disease, and as the dad of an adult daughter with autism and other disabilities, I’m worried that our nation’s health will soon be threatened because we have not stood up to the pseudoscience and fake conspiracy claims of this movement.

This is actually so brilliant that when I do a filmed Hamlet adaptation I will do this, pay you for the creative direction, and give you the concept byline.

I’ll be real, this post was like 5% joke, 95% realization that the purest preservation of the soliloquy in modern culture is the reality show talking head, a confessional both private and performative and essential to understanding the emotional underpinnings of the actions being played, all in a format of direct address that we accept.
