Can I get a two-tone but make it evil?

Marlon Brandon, “The Godfather”

I know he’s supposed to be processing a lot of emotions looking at his son’s ruined corpse but it still feels like watching Jim Carrey doing a Jack Nicholson impersonation in a comedy club in the early 80s.

One thing I’ve noticed rewatching Godfather (and it’s gonna take me a couple of days at least, it’s 7 fucking hours this version) is that for background historical scenes, Coppola tends to block his shots of deeper in Manhattan with cars or trucks. It’s A simple effective way of containing any slippage of modern-day vehicles and not everyone does this  (I’ve seen it happen a few times in other movies)

You can’t alter lampposts and fixtures on a bridge tho, which means it’s still 1960s designs in a 40s setting. (well, not then, you could now, digitally, if you want to spend your budget on that)

This is probably my strongest visual impression of The Godfather Part II (tho taken from The Godfather The Complete Epic), the music, the mood, the tracking, it all stuck with me.
