Spaghetti Toes

A lot going on here and it all stems from her overhearing her mom say she loved "Deadpool", the movie... which we haven't even seen yet, so none of this even makes any sense.

Anyway, Harper was very angry that her mom said she "loved another man" and she was there for me in my time of need. So thanks for standing up for me kid.

The absolute sincerity in her face and voice when she said this to me was enough to break a million hearts. But enough about that... we have a wedding to plan!!!

Harper and Dad collaboration #6. A little explanation here: Harper's new "jam" right now is "Stitches". I'm pretty sure she listens to it about 35 times a day or until her mother loses her mind. She's also quite smitten with the singer, Shawn Mendes, but at this point, who isn't she smitten with. So, she approached me the other day and said "Dad, I think that if Hulk and Black Widow fall in love they would be needin' Stitches". Well, I guess she's probably right, so we sat down to draw this scenario. As we were working, she told me that she and Shawn Mendes had started a band, but she was using the name Crystal so no other guys would know it was her. She also informed me that the duo would sing the song "Stitches" to the Hulk and Black Widow to help them fall in love. Oh, and "Also, two wolves would always be with them. The wolves are also pregnant

Not quite sure what category this compliment falls under, but it sure was fun to draw, and it sure made my wife's day. It will also forever be a term of endearment in the Spaghetti home.

I recently got this message from a mom in New Jersey: Dear Spaghetti Toes - I love your work. My daughter, now 8, is unabashedly proud of and keenly aware of how her comfort in her own skin makes her older sister, now 10, cringe. So whenever things get too tense at bedtime we can count on our youngest to strip down to nothing but her panties and blond curly hair. She will then announce, in her best announcer voice, while posing in a superhero stance, " Dum, Dum, Dum...behold, it's...OPTIMIST IN UNDERPANTS!"

Just playin' Superhero matchmaker is all.

I asked her if she wanted to draw their other arms and she said "They're so in love that they only need one each."

Harper and Dad collaboration #5 - we'll see how many more of these we get as last night, while we were drawing, she said "Dad, I'm not sure I really like your style."

She appears to now be taking auditions. Poor Ant-Man was out the door before he even got to do some cool ant stuff to win her heart. And the worst part about this new Robin infatuation is that it's not even the cool old Robin that wore green panties and elf slippers. I've begged her to help me draw that one and she won't have it. It was a sad day yesterday in the Spaghetti home. I have no idea where she came up with the "Sneaking on me" phrase, but she wanted him out of the house so we got the gist. This is also another Harper and Dad collaboration. We're having way too much fun with this new adventure. I was woken up Sunday at 6:30am with Harper saying "Dad, get up, we need to get to work." She drew all the faces, Taylor's hair, the spaghetti and meatballs including the shared spaghetti string and heart. She also colored in and designed all of the outfits and told me how to draw everything else.

We've been watching an awful lot of "Batman and Robin" around here lately (The one with George Clooney and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's pretty much the best-worst movie ever made). My 4 year old Harper has become infatuated with Robin and Poison Ivy's "Kissing" scene and talks about it pretty much all day every day.

So now, everything in our home has to do with the cast of this classic piece of American cinema. Harper asked me to draw Robin and instead, I let her sit on my lap and draw it with me. She did all of the faces (minus the masks), all of the capes and she colored in every single section of this after I sketched it out. That's also her pretty awesome little signature with zero help from mom and dad. I see a lot of collaborations in our future!

She made her decision. She chose her babysitter. Poor Spidey.
