Not sure we're quite ready to add "Future Scientist" to the list of possible professions for Harper just yet but Happy Eclipse Day everyone!

Life isn't always perfect or fun or easy. Even though we always try to bring the funny, sweet and absurd things our little girl says to life, sometimes she says something that stops us in our tracks. A few weeks ago we were heading up to see my mom and Harper was so excited to see her Grandma and a few of her cousins. As we pulled into Grandma's driveway I heard a sniffle in the back of the car. I turned around and saw a tear in Harper's eye. I wasn't sure what was going on and said, "What's wrong honey? What happened?" She looked at me and simply said, "Dad, I'm just so happy. I'm lucky to have this life." I was having a bit of a hard day and she brought me out of my little funk and turned it all around in an instant. We are truly so lucky to have this life. Thank you Harper for reminding us not to take it for granted.

Harper has two little buddies that live across the street. They like to get together to play superheroes and zombies and all sorts of fun stuff. The other day, Harper ran inside for a few minutes and the boys didn't know I was around the corner of the house. This is what I heard:

Boy 1: "What do you think of Harper?"

Boy 2: "Umm... she's cool but I think she's a little crazy!"

Boy 1 (In the best low-talker voice ever): "She's not crazy, she's MYSTERIOUS!!!"

I now do à la carte artwork... apparently.

At least once a day we'll be watching the news or driving through town or walking in our neighborhood and something will trigger her wrath and every single time the first words out of her mouth are: "I'm writing a f*&$ing letter". She's true to her word, the woman has written a lot of damn letters in her day.

A 4-year-old only child and sharing. Those two things don't generally go hand in hand. It's been a pretty constant subject in the Spaghetti house lately. Harper normally does "okay", but she definitely has her moments when we're around other children. Recently she had one of those moments and it was hard on everyone. There was yelling, crying and learning... by mother, father and child. After everyone regained their composure, Harper walked up to me and said: "Dad, I'll share my heart with you if you share your heart with me.

I'm pretty sure we've all been here before. Kristen Spector from Fairfax, VA. said this quote when she was a little girl and asked me to interpret her youthful thoughts into a print to hang up in her parent's kitchen. Obviously, I loved this idea! Thanks Kristen, Oh, and I'm pretty sure you just made everyone here super hungry for a cupcake!

This quote comes from Wyndi Rejniak of Seattle, Washington and her son. I'm pretty sure every single parent ever can relate. Here's the story straight from mom: My son is 2.5 and loves riding bikes with dad. Dad built a dirt bike track in backyard (a small one) for the kiddo. Most days at home start with this.... "Dad! This quote comes from Jessica Grasse and her then 2 year old daughter Laura. I have somewhat of a Prickly Beast on my own face so this one made me giggle a little bit more, especially because my own daughter has said similar things to me and once said "I liked you more when you were normal" after I shaved it off.
