One of Harper's favorite people on the planet is our neighbor Griffin. He's in high school now and babysits her from time to time. She gets beyond excited when we tell her Griff is babysitting! Genius must attract, when he was a little boy, he pondered the possibility of this important purchase. Thanks to his mom, Shannon and his Grandma, Lottie! You guys are awesome!
I can tell you that the spirit in this little girl will some day "grow up" into a spirit equivalent to the biggest, baddest thunderstorm the world has ever seen!
A sweet, positive message about love and a safety lesson? This quote has it all. Thanks so much to Tiffany Traser and her son Korbyn. His words could help make this world a better (and safer) place. Thanks guys!
This quote comes from Kristi Heavican and her adorable daughters from Gretna, Ne. There is something so amazingly strong and wonderful (yet super sweet) about this quote. I love it so much. Thanks girls!
This is the first time I'm doing a quote that came from me as a child. When I was a little boy, my mom and I had a very special song: "Could I have this dance for the rest of my life" by Anne Murray. Any time this song came on we would dance together and I would always approach her, bow my head and say: "Could I have this Dance?" I'm the youngest of 6 children and the only boy so eventually I would approach her whenever I thought she needed a mother and son dance... which was a lot. When I got married we revisited this dance for the first time in years. It will always be one of the very best memories I will ever have. I love you, Mom.
A lot going on here and it all stems from her overhearing her mom say she loved "Deadpool", the movie... which we haven't even seen yet, so none of this even makes any sense.
Anyway, Harper was very angry that her mom said she "loved another man" and she was there for me in my time of need. So thanks for standing up for me kid.
Harper and Dad collaboration
I recently found an old list of Harper quotes from when she first started talking. Long before superhero boyfriends, princess obsessions and gross bathroom and/or kitchen conversations.
Harper and Dad collaboration #6. A little explanation here: Harper's new "jam" right now is "Stitches". I'm pretty sure she listens to it about 35 times a day or until her mother loses her mind. She's also quite smitten with the singer, Shawn Mendes, but at this point, who isn't she smitten with. So, she approached me the other day and said "Dad, I think that if Hulk and Black Widow fall in love they would be needin' Stitches". Well, I guess she's probably right, so we sat down to draw this scenario. As we were working, she told me that she and Shawn Mendes had started a band, but she was using the name Crystal so no other guys would know it was her. She also informed me that the duo would sing the song "Stitches" to the Hulk and Black Widow to help them fall in love. Oh, and "Also, two wolves would always be with them. The wolves are also pregnant
I don't care what she calls me as long as it's preceded with "I Love You" I'm going back over some quotes Harper said when she was 2 and this one was one of my favorites.
I recently got this message from a mom in New Jersey: Dear Spaghetti Toes - I love your work. My daughter, now 8, is unabashedly proud of and keenly aware of how her comfort in her own skin makes her older sister, now 10, cringe. So whenever things get too tense at bedtime we can count on our youngest to strip down to nothing but her panties and blond curly hair. She will then announce, in her best announcer voice, while posing in a superhero stance, " Dum, Dum, Dum...behold, it's...OPTIMIST IN UNDERPANTS!"
Super Sweet? Adorable? Desperate? Terrifying? We're not quite sure what this one is. But I had to draw it the second she said it.
Just playin' Superhero matchmaker is all.
I asked her if she wanted to draw their other arms and she said "They're so in love that they only need one each."
Harper and Dad collaboration #5 - we'll see how many more of these we get as last night, while we were drawing, she said "Dad, I'm not sure I really like your style."
"BE AWESOME!... Continue until dead!" A pretty good motto to live by if you ask me. This "awesome" quote comes from Emily Bands and her son from Baltimore, MD. Thanks guys!
Today's quote comes from Karen Dobbins of Albion, MI. Here's what she said about her story:
"Oh no! One of my ponies fell out and now I don't look fabulous! And Daddy's going to see me not fabulous!" Molly, my granddaughter, is 3 and refers to her pigtails as 'ponies" ( like ponytails).
Happy Presidents Day - Spaghetti Toes Style! Print courtesy of Jennifer Ream and her child from Ponte Vedra beach, FL.
Happy Valentine's Day from Spaghetti Toes. This adorably sweet quote comes from Jennifer Rosen Heinz from Verona, WI. and her daughter Lilly. It's absolutely perfect for today. Thanks guys and everyone have a lovely day full of sweet surprises! I was woken up to a stuffed pink pig and a promise from my wife that there would be no more pet pig requests. Best. Gift. Ever.
