Can’t wait to see Freddie and Bohemian Rapsody!
Good friends of ours got married recently and I told the groom that I wanted to do some artwork for each of them as a gift. He and I have always shared a love of baseball and movies so I did a big old baseball print for him. When I was done I decided that doing a print just for him might be a little unfair to his lovely bride. So I asked him what some of her favorite things were. He listed off a handful of things and then said: "Oh, and she loves Stephen King!" I replied with: "Do you think she'd be cool with a Stephen King print for a wedding gift?" and he said: "Oh yeah, she'd totally love that!"
So here it is! The completed piece... and what's even better is that today is Stephen King's birthday! So Happy Birthday Stephen King and Happy Wedding to our great friends!
I've been recently working on a great big super duper Stephen King piece for a fun project and I thought I'd share one of my favorite drawings from it.
Movies will always be a huge love of mine and "Stand by me" is a one that I've seen way too many times to even count. It was one of my absolute favorites as a kid and these guys were way too much fun to bring to life!
(For those of you that might not know, "Stand by me" was written by Stephen King as a short story called: "The Body" and it's as amazing as the movie!)
A few months ago, Harper sat down on my lap while I was working and said: "Can I help you, Daddy?" I said: "Of course, why don't we start our own project!" (She loooves "projects"!)
So she asked if we could draw all of the Superhero Girls that ever existed! I was totally on board with this plan. She picked the specific girl, then I started out by drawing the basic shapes, the head, etc and Harper did the rest! She picked the colors, drew the hair, the lasso, and especially the dresses. I then came back in and gave it all a little bit of love and detail. (I also drew a little frame when we were all done!
So here is our very first one! (we've done about 15 more, and will post them all soon!)
