i don't think it's possible to convey to young people what it was like being a kid and watching adventure time as it aired and noticing all the background hints to the mushroom war and forming the usual 3edgy5me childhood ruined fan theories about it and having them turn out to not only be true but also go on to form the entire thematic and emotional foundation of the series

you have to understand we didn't have lighthearted animated comedies for kids that took a dramatic turn towards dark fantasy like that. this was before everyone started doing that

#seriously though#Adventure Time is far from the first cartoon to ever do that - even on CN - but it really reset the standard for it#lighthearted cartoons that took a dark turn EXISTED before AT - hell just look at ReBoot - but AT redefined what was possible#and it happened during the social media age so people could discuss it en masse in virtually real-time#I got to experience this as an adult but to be a KID during that time must have been absolutely NUTS#anyway#please watch Adventure Time#and watch ALL of it - not just the 'plot important' episodes#you don't get the full experience if you skip the 'normal' eps

writing or drawing or editing or what creative form you please, doing so for x thing and then seeing people wish that there was more people making for x thing and it's like

are you looking? are you making the effort to find past works for x thing? are you showing appreciation that the maker can see? do you share the work, fanwork or original, so others can also see and enjoy, so the creator knows 'hey, i thought this was good and i want others to see it too'?

cause i promise you there's people there who have made what you want, or would. but do they know there's people appreciative of the time and effort they put in, who want to share in that interest?

course it's not a mandatory thing. but people make and share what they make for it to be seen. if you aren't able to make it yourself, for whatever reason, then be a person who helps get those works in front of someone else's eyes.

#seriously though#yes#also hey followers do you like Adventure Time#do you like forbidden slow burn romances disguised as adventure stories#cause I wrote a long-ass slow burn adventure story about Fionna and Ice Queen called 'Spring Flurries'#it's up on both AO3 and Fanfiction dot net#I wrote it at the height of my involvement with the show and used the same style and tone as the show with a little bit of my own spin#it's got fun adventures and serious moments and horny teenagers and kissing your enemy and falling in lesbians with an older woman#a lot of people really enjoyed it during its day but you should go check it out#it's like one of my biggest and longest running accomplishments

Anytime I see someone mention how “ X country” is “ soooo great” the follow up question will always be “ How are Black People in that country treated?”

Not sure why this still needs to be explained as to why countries are lazy as shit about their social programs and the ones that do have them are because the country in question is filled with yts & it brings me back to my question “ How are the Black People in X country treated? With these oh so great programs?”

Just another of many reasons why I’m so against traveling to certain places in Europe. I’ve been to Italy and France before, and it wasn’t terrible but still always apprehensive on going back.

i think the best practical joke any video game pulled was Skyrim opening their game making you think the rebellion was this amazing noble cause against an oppressive government (as most fantasy universes frame it), but then you pretty much immediately find out that the stormcloaks are just racists with swords and the empire isn’t really all that terrible save your standard government problems.

No really though, we knew it would probably be coming out later this year, but I can’t believe it’s actually finally already later this year! The last actual date I heard was “September 2015″, but that was a long, looooong time ago. 

We now also know that it’s slated to air on Nickelodeon in the US (which honestly is a surprise to me…knowing Nick though, they’ll probably drop “Ladybug” from the name and just call it “Miraculous”, to focus on their whole “NO GIRLY SOUNDING THINGS EVER” spiel)

But yeah man, holy heck! LADYBUG SEASON IS ALMOST UPON US!!!

holy fucking hell do you know how happy it makes me when finn’s characterization went through all these seasons?

they could’ve made him a jerky, single-minded idiot hero with all the main protag tropes

and instead we got this spiritually-connected, philosophical lil human who is trying to enjoy life but wants to figure out the deeper meaning of it too
