Finished just in time for St. Patrick’s Day - Molly “Dark Eyes” O’Sullivan. She may not be familiar to a lot of Whovians because she’s the 8th Doctor’s companion in the Big Finish audio dramas - which are really good. Like really, really good. If you haven’t tried these audio dramas out and you need something to fill your Doctor Who void for 2016, you absolutely should devour the Big Finish Audio Dramas.

The Dark Eyes series, which has four volumes, features Molly O’Sullivan - the Doctor’s Irish companion. She’s awesome. She’s not afraid to stand up to the Doctor. She even punches him several times. Knocking him out once. I wish we could have seen her on T.V. She’s the last companion the 8th Doctor mentions prior to his regeneration in the ‘Night of the Doctor’ webisode before the 50th Anniversary episode.

1 week later…

I was kinda thinking about the fact that “Master of the Daleks” would’ve taken place in Russia during the time of the RSFSR, but obviously it wouldn’t have even existed because of the events of the audio

The art style of Soviet propaganda posters is really great, but I honestly never want to draw in it again It was great practice with the pen tool though, even if i didn’t like using it original poster: Here

I am putting the progress video of all the coloring in this post so I don’t have to make a separate post and use links: (audio warning) (flashing image/color warning)

Video music:

  1. “Atomic Garden” by Bad Religion
  2. “Let Her Go” by Something To Do

Three 8th Doctors on three different papers I was studying with. Sizes: first two are painted on very very small pieces of paper, third is slightly bigger than a5.

The first one is on Lana hotpress, not sure is it like or dislike. Soft texture seems to be nice, but this paper is so difficult and stressfull to work with! It requires ton of layers and it is hard to predict how colors turn out after the paint dries. It seems I need more practice (and more masochism).

The second is on Canson Moulin du Roy CP. The colors stay bright and I enjoyned painting process a lot, thIs paper seemed to be just magical to me. But there are small white dots after drying, I need to do something with white dots!

And, finally, torshon from Palazzo. I worked with this paper before, it’s quite nice, but not perfect. Suited best for fast works with not many layers.

I didn’t post a lot of things this week because I spent a lot of time making these two small watercolor paintings. I only had one week to finish them before Paris Comics Expo.

Because last Sunday, I made some friends, and thanks to them I decided to go to that convention too, because of… reasons…

Yeah.

I still can’t think clearly.

Paul McGann is as kind to his fans as his reputation suggests. I can’t believe how nice he is with everyone. He told me it was okay to be shy, that a lot of people were shy, that a lot of actors were shy, and that this was the reason why rehearsals exist. He even complimented me on the watercolor paintings and noted with a big smile that they featured “the best TARDIS!”. Later in the afternoon he went on to hug like almost all the people waiting around his table, stating that contrary to the photo shoot, that was free. ;_;

I’m still in shock really.
