Not dead, just uninspired.
I was wondering why people were making sad De posts. Then I looked at the date. :( At least it inspired me to get off my ass and finally finish this (How long ago did I post the wip? Like a month?).
Also, pardon the lighting quality, I’ve no idea where the sun went.
Close-ups under the cut:
Just some Bones, painted with the world’s worst watercolors.
Day 31: Risk
DONE. Inktober is DONE. I don’t even care if it took me over half a month longer than it should have. It’s done. I’m done. I’m so done. I never want to see ink again.
~rambling warning (no need to read: I just want to get this off my chest)~
I could go on all day about these wonderful fictional people. The way they risk everything to save one of their own, the way they’re all still so close to each other even as they grow older, the way they kind of just all adopt each other as a family...AHH. I love their dynamic so much.
I think one of the reasons I love the original series so much is because the adventure doesn’t stop once they reach a certain age. You wouldn’t normally think of a bunch of 50-60 year-olds as your typical sci-fi heroes, but these people just don’t quit, even when they’re pushing 70 (cough I’m looking at you, Bones). And I damn well love that. If anything, seeing them grow over so many years really solidifies their character even more.
And like I said, their teamwork and devotion to each other is just...It’s so good, man.
So, uh...yeah. I love Star Trek.
Day 29: Patch
Poor Jimbo. He’s wrecked his shirt so many times that Starfleet forbade him from replicating a new one for at least the next month.
Day 28: Crispy
Aw yeah, double art post today.
McCoy ain’t never looked prettier than when he was in his nice and crisp dress uniform (except maybe the black t-shirt...hm...).
In other news, today I unearthed a tin of metallic watercolors I didn’t know I had. So now I can add all the sparkles I want to my paintings. This makes me happier than it should. You can’t really see in the photo, but the gold trim on his uniform is all nice and glittery when you get it in the right light.
Day 27: Spark
Chekov’s a sparky boy.
Day 26: Connect
This was the mind meld scene from Spectre of the Gun. I, uh...made this look more romantic than I meant to.
Day 25: Splat
Aka the sound of my brains falling out of my ears and melting onto the floor the first time I watched Spock’s Brain.
Here’s Bones trying to ignore the fact that there’s a brainless Spock staring blankly behind him. Don’t look back, Bones. Brainless Spock isn’t real. He can’t hurt you.
Day 24: Extinct
Do y’all remember the episode where the triumvirate got stuck on Halloween Planet by a neckbeard wizard and a cat lady?
And it turns out the neckbeard wizard and cat lady were actually these weird little blue shrimp people?
And the shrimp people just completely melted themselves into extinction at the end?
Catspaw was a wild ride.
Day 23: Leak
Aaand we’re back. This picture doesn’t have much to do with the word prompt...Maybe she’s listening to some secret message being leaked over the channel? Idk.
...I just really wanted to draw Uhura again.
Days 21 (Fuzzy) & 22 (Open)
If Bones had gone through all the movies looking that scruffy I would die happy.
If Bones had gone through the original series with that open shirt I would also die happy.
Days 19 & 20: Loop (right) & Sprout (left)
On the left we have a lil babby Spock. On the right we have a crazed lanky boy crossing the threshold into the Big Sad.
Day 17: Collide
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: William Shatner is so hard to draw.
Days 15 & 16: Helmet & Compass
Ignore the shading on poor Sulu. Happy accidents were had.
Day 14: Tick
“You really piss tick me off, Jim.”
It’s kinda crazy how quickly real life gets in the way of art stuff. Finishing all the prompts before November might not be happening this year.
On another note, can we talk about how wonderful Bones is in the movies? Don’t get me wrong. TOS Bones is great. Perfect. Adorable little ball of grumpiness and fluttery eyelashes. But there’s just something about movie-era Bones that’s just *chef’s kiss.*
