i know a lot of people hate 3, and I admit that it’s not the best episode (the dialogue is quite pretentious), but the way it shows how bleak and lonely mulder’s life would be without scully is so interesting to me. he’s like a shell of himself in this ep, and i think his affair with the „vampire” is him desperately trying to fill the void left by scully and to make himself feel anything other than hopelessness
