they should have let claire kill - no okay let me rephrase. They should have let jack kill — no wait wait . They should have let kevin kill dean and sam with hammers. First.

[ID: Three sheets of drawings from a Supernatural AU. The first has Claire and Jack standing in front of an older (but not classic) car. Kevin sits on the hood and watches the other two argue over a map.
Next, there's a little swatch for their skin, hair, and eye colors next to a doodle of their signatures. Kevin's is mindless, Claire's messy, and Jack's nearly perfect with a heart over the I. Four little comics follow.
1: Kevin is in the back seat, looking over a knocked out Claire, "Oh good, you're awake. That spell took you out, dude." Claire asks blurrily, "Kevin? Who's driving?" "Jack" Claire screams "WHAT?!" Kevin assures her he's fine, to which Jack adds "Yeah, I did this with Dean once!" "ONCE!?"
2: Claire asks Kevin, "How did you find the time to do all that?" "Well Claire," Kevin is suddenly underlit like a haunted doll, "I'm a very driven person," An authors note says this is Kevin channeling his AP Kid Energy into making convincing fake credentials.
3. Someone asks Claire and Jack why they're asking so many questions. Claire says they have a podcast, Jack adds "it's about being nice to your siblings! And also murder."
4: Jack and Kevin are grocery shopping. Kevin is telling Jack someone is trying to befriend him, "Haven't you had friends before?" "Claire!" Jack says. Kevin clarifies "Claire is your sister." Jack thinks for a second and says "You!" Kevin dryly responds "this is a hostage situation."
In the next sheet, Kevin and Claire crouch behind Jack who looks like he was just blown on his ass, nose bleeding. Kevin asks "Jack... what did you..." Jack replies "I think I may have... accidentally thrown us back in time?" Claire murmurs "Great fucking Scott..." There's note adding more context: this is a part of a concept for an Very Special episode of these 3 called "so 2000 and Late." The three accidentally stumble back in time to 2010 and antics ensue. Three related doodles follow.
1. Bobby nags Jack, who's got a tissue on his nose bleed. "Pinch at your damn bridge, boy, you're looking like a damn spout!" Jack laughs but says "yes, Mr. Singer!"
2. Claire cuts off Kevin, clearly explaining why they can't Butterfly Effect the past. "Fine," she says, "but if 2010 Dean over performs masculinity at me, I will kill him myself. Timeline be damned." Kevin puts his hands up, passively, "And nobody could hold that against you!"
3. Young (well, he's 30) Cas is telling 2010 Dean "that is a powerful and threatening creature-" Dean cuts him off, "Jesus, Cas, the kid's barely old enough to shave." The two continue to bicker, but it washes over Jack who looks extremely focused, repeating "don't call them dad," over and over like a mantra. /END ID]
just some kevin & linda tran moments from the “captives” script outline that have me lying on the floor (x)
[Image text:
Kevin got dealt a bad hand, forced into a life he didn't choose, made to work tirelessly and thanklessly in defense of the world, and he was repaid for his efforts with death.
They get to work on the wires. Sam is overwhelmed, but Mrs. Tran says they'll get this gate open, they'll go save his brother, and then he will take her to her son. Sam, troubled, is on the verge of coming clean about Kevin... but Mrs. Tran pointedly silences him, repeating: "You will take me to my son." Eyes watering but chin stiff, we realize she senses the news about Kevin is bad. But until she gets out of here, she wants to know only one thing that she will see her son again, in whatever form.
"Kevin?” Mrs. Tran enters the bunker. She is overwhelmed with emotion, shocked at the sight of her son in his condition, but she swallows it: she'll be strong for her son. There'll be no discussion of his death, no crying over the fact that she can't hug him. /end ID]
It's, like, jarring how differently Charlie and Kevin are treated by the Winchesters despite being in the same era of the show.
Kevin is in this constant high-stress situation from being a number one target of the angels and demons. But the result is that he rarely takes breaks or hangs out or has fun because there's always something that needs to be translated or worked on to "save the world". And in his episodes it seems like the Winchesters are there with him, working hard and constantly on the go.
But then you get to the Charlie episodes and they do relax and have fun and LARP and marathon Game of Thrones together. All while Kevin is still going through it.
Honestly, when you watch all the Kevin scenes together it's hard to see any instance where they are all just friends let alone "family" as Dean calls them once. Charlie is treated like a friend, a sister. Kevin is treated like a coworker, an intern or assistant even. He's congratulated when he does good work and they make sure he stays healthy and safe. You can still be friends with your coworkers and care about them, but they don't really interact with him much beyond that in the show.
And like, a lot of this is the show/writers because they choose how much to include of each character's relationship with them. To most writers, showing that wasn't priority. Actor schedules also didn't help because realistically Kevin should've been in every episode in early s9 from living in the bunker, i.e. the slumber party episode with Charlie. Realistically, the three of them probably did hang out - I mean, they all lived together in the bunker for months. But it's not shown or even implied.
On the other hand, I think a lot the reasons the Charlie episodes ARE so different is because Robbie Thompson wrote all of them. Between Time After Time or Baby, it's clear that he enjoys getting to show characters simply hanging out and being friends and enjoying each other's company. Like the night-and-day difference between "Angel Heart" and all of Claire's other Season 10 episodes ALONE. If Robbie had gotten to write one single Kevin episode it'd probably have been a a chance for him to have fun for once. But he never got to since Kevin was kept to very main plot/myth arc heavy episodes. And none of the other writers cared about Kevin beyond his use to the plot or brothers' motivation for being mad at each other. It just sucks.
i think sam should’ve put the moves on linda tran 1. because she is the milf to end all milfs and we know how sam feels about that and 2. linda DESERVES to have a hunky tall drink of water desperately seeking her attention and approval and 3. it might have finally given kevin tran the motivation he needed to kill the winchesters dead where they stood
i think cas and rowena would have a podcast where they talk about history. it would be like rowena chatting about the fashions and witch drama and cas doing a lot of ‘i don’t recall 1740s very well I was observing the orca population heavily at that time’ and kevin off mic frantically trying to fact check everything they say that is actually coherent
in my most superior version of supernatural it’s a sitcom about jack claire and kevin hunting together and being chaotic etc like i want there to be a scene where cas is talking to someone idc who but he says “my children are smart. i trust claire and jack to handle themselves in crises” and then it immediately cuts to a shot of claire and jack duct taped to a wall somewhere with kevin laughing his ass off. but what’s critical here is that kevin is still a prophet and jack is the son of lucifer and claire is just some guy (affectionate) (deancoded) so like in the inevitable musical episode where they get hit with a spell that makes them sing everything, the angels are like hey kevin we got some more prophet stuff for you and he just starts singing enochian out of nowhere
the other thing that’s critical here too is that cas is still a main character so he’s always around but with his own side plots and it’s very important to me that one of those side plots is becoming an integral part of the community where garth lives. like cas just shows up one day to pick up something from garth but ends up joining a book club somehow and three weeks later he’s looking at the property across the street from garth’s family and talking about HOA fees

[image ID: four gifs showing the demon meg, the angel castiel, and the prophet kevin tran sitting in the backseat of the impala. castiel explains, “if the word of god is revealed, a keeper of the word will awaken.” he then leans over to boop kevin on the nose as he remarks, “like this hot potato right here.” kevin swats castiel’s finger away with a, “please stop that.” cas retreats and pauses before he says, “anyway.” /end ID]
I think holy terror would have been better if it were Cas who was killed instead of Kevin because 1.) Dean's sentiment towards Kevin was always so superficial at best 2.) Kevin shouldn't have died 3.) it still would have been the results of the same path 4.) the grief would have been much more obvious and real 5.) Sam killing his best friend again with his own hands is literally Lucifer callback which was the parallel the whole thing was going for if we still need it to be Gadreel 6.) it would make much more sense it would send Dean onto a path of destruction 7.) it would also make it near impossible to actually avoid the fact Dean gave Cas a death sentence 8.) KEVIN WOULD BE ALIVE 9.) while obviously Cas would come back in like. a couple episodes.
Anyways Cas should have died in Holy Terror.
every day I bitch and moan that kevin didn’t get the soulless prophet arc.
so important to me that kevin is like, lmao? sam and dean were crying about how terrible this was for years? literally all it’s done is relieve me of my chronic anxiety. i have no impulse to kill anyone that’s on you guys for being freaks
dean has this huge breakdown about the darkness scarfing down kevin’s soul like “I can’t believe we couldn’t protect the kid, he’s a monster, he’s like us now” meanwhile kevin is completely unbothered crushing his risk: online games
