Luxio… Please wait! Luxio… Won’t you come with me? On that day, I… I broke the promise I had made with you. This time, I will wait for you. I will wait for you at the same place as that day, same time. So if you want to come with me, please come to the same plaza.

Episode about a main character’s past, involving a human being at fault and the sense of betrayal that resulted from it in a Pokémon! Obviously, some bits in the way the thematic was handled reminded me of Iris – through oppositions and contrasts, mostly, but the variations contained elements similar to her story with Doryuzu. While Iris hadn’t been able to understand what she had done wrong until present-time, Citron knew he was making a mistake from the start; the promise was made beforehand, he was aware he was breaking it and had no trouble identifying that. The “identification” was about Luxio for Citron, and Citron for Luxio: a moment of mutual acknowledgment and recognition to tie their stories together again.
