I sorta find it hilarious(ly sad) that the most vocal Serena haters describe her as symptomatic of misogynistic views from the creators becaaaaaaaaause…? She will “probably not” be a Super Badass like any beginner trainer would be (see: Satoshi), she makes silly faces (see: Satoshi), her stated goal is unclear (see: being a Pokémon Master gets so much more explanation that Sihorn Racing), she wears a skirt (and somehow, non-sexualized legs and the absence of pantyshots baiting are now fanservice? Like how, IRL, any girl wearing a skirt should know she is asking for it, I guess…?) (also, see: Satoshi’s butt shots and its two shadows to mark depth), she will “probably” decide to go on a journey just because of Satoshi (and Platane totally didn’t have any starter ready for her at that point, and/or staying home to do just like her mother when she’s having trouble ridding Sihorn would totally have been a much braver decision), she will “probably” fail a lot about Pokémon (she sure doesn’t know how to take care of Sihorn), she will “probably” do everything she does because she will “probably” have a crush on Satoshi, and she will “probably” get hurt a lot, see the second episode and her bandaged face (………… see: Satoshi getting scratches and getting some more in the next episodes according to the trailer). Also, Satoshi will “probably” be her Knight In Shining ArmorTM and it’s so awful to even imagine a boy helping out a girl, meaning a damsel in distress, but it’s even more dreadful to imagine her helping him because then, she is just waifu material or fake badass just made to appeal. How dare she complain at home! What a pest she is! How dare she remain composed and polite some other times! How bland she is! Have I mentioned she hasn't met Satoshi in XY yet. ... Have I mentioned that a good portion of those most vocal Serena haters seem to be male. "Knight in Shining Armor", uh. Girls just can’t win, and that’s actually the most misogynistic part, I guess? ^^’
