RATNA PATHAK SHAH as HEMLATA MANSUKHLAL DHOLAKIA || Happy Family: Conditions Apply (2023)
[Image ID: five gifs from Happy Family: Conditions Apply, episode 1.07, "A Reception and a Deception." Pinkesh, a potential groom for Ayushi, is telling the table what his idea of beauty looks like.
GIF 1: Pinkesh standing at the Dholakia table, pinching his index finger and thumb together as he says, "You see, the beauty of a woman is measured by the length of her hair."
GIF 2: Hemlata leaning back in her chair, giving him a faux-fascinated look as she innocently asks, "and, beauty of gents?"
GIF 3: Pallavi whispering to Tisca that, "Ab Baa phategi." The translation reads, "Now, Baa will go off." The gif switches to show Tisca nodding in agreement, looking amused.
GIF 4: Hemlata standing, still giving Pinkesh a saccharine smile as she says, "Is that measured by length of his tindora?" The subtitle reads, "Is that measured by length of his ivy gourd?"
GIF 5: Tisca's mouth dropping open as her eyebrows fly up, looking down as she tries to compose her smile. The gif switches to Pallavi who ducks her head, balancing her temple on two fingers as she smiles in exasperated amusement.

“India has so many different beauty rituals that are unique to the country; traditions that have been passed down through generations and generations of women. My most favorite: the champi. Your grandmother or your mother or some elder oils your hair and massages your scalp. Sometimes you leave it in overnight and wash it off the next day. Sometimes you leave it in for a couple of hours. You can actually feel your head cooling down; your eyes start cooling. It's the most incredible feeling and there’s so much nostalgia attached to it.”
