nothing has solidified that were not viewed as women but a separate subclass of women more than "you can just identify as a trans woman if it makes you happy", its turned the term "trans woman" from an experience and term born out of our conditions into a Vibe, a Mood, an Identity, and its specifically distinct from being a Normal Woman. how do you not realise how insulting that is

everyone in the world is either a democrat or a republican. everyone in the whole wide world is a democrat and a republican and america is the largest and most populous country in the world and america is easily the most culturally diverse country in the world because the middle class white people in my state (like a little country) are very different than the middle class white people over there (another little country, once more called a "state") and you could never understand how bad it is in america, the main country in the world. where are you from again? it's bad in america and america is bad but the way that america is run is the only way a country could possibly be run unfortunately. i don't like it but it's the only right way for a country to be run and you don't get it because the main victims of the main country are all here and you aren't. where are you from again? they never told me about that place. i don't think you get that real people live in america. probably because you're a republican. real people live in america and real people are hurt by america but what can you do? god said america has to be like this. god said this because god is real so god is american. you don't get it because you're over there and we're all here in america, the realest country in the world. where are you from again? how can you talk like this with what's happening in america? you're a democrat, right? where are you from again? my country is so large it stretches over yours and presses down hard. it's not my fault that they never told me about that place. my country covers the world. you don't understand how bad this will be for real people in the real world, the first world, the only world. they never told me—where in america are you from again?

struggling to understand how people can act THIS shocked whenever another TME theorist/activist (especially a cis 70s feminist) gets revealed as having written super transmisogynistic texts and palled around with TERFs. surely this cannot come as this much of a surprise. people are so incredibly reluctant to question the politics of the Established Feminist theorists. maybe someday having been "kink critical" and talking about the Unique Oppression of (cis) Lesbians and repeatedly drawn trans woman and lesbian as two separate categories and having attended fucking michfest will be enough for people to realize that without acting so surprised like come on now.

I feel like creating these loose, ill-defined chains of culpability taking people who, while imperfect, have specifically spoken in support of trans women when push comes to shove, and then linking them to people who are more actively transmisogynistic, bears a lot of resemblance to the sort of disingenuous tactics used in callout posts. I don't think this is a good thing to do.

the reason callout posts are bad is because they target marginalized communities, especially trans women, who rely on community support for survival and isolate them by turning people against them for ultimately trivial acts that are not condemned the same way when coming from tme people. I with my 300 followers do not in any way have the power to meaningfully "call out" dead established feminist theorists nor do I want to. feinberg being explicitly, clearly friends with adrienne rich and other TERFs is not loose or ill defined this is documented history. bell hooks using transmisogynistic rhetoric against the protagonists of paris is burning is just as clear. what does having "spoken out in favour of trans women" mean in this context. if you can understand how someone can say "support trans women and fuck terfs!" and still be violently transmisogynistic this shouldn't be that much of a puzzle

also none of you seem to think trans women exist outside of north america and europe its almost like you think being trans is some kind of first world frivolity but are too scared to say it

As a trans woman who was at ground zero when megalia-WOMAD split happened and Escape the Corset morphed into 4B (now 6B4T) movement, I've been feeling like I'm reliving the mid-to-late 2010s again. I've outlined it in these two posts, but the people aligned with this movement has actively shifted the dialogue on transgender people rightward in South Korea, with the help of first world TERFs. They've actively created a norm in organizing in-person that excludes most transgender women, all for the approval of white TERFs from abroad, like Sheila Jeffreys.

Like, transgender people have existed in East Asia for a long time (both historically and in the current conception of transgender people), but TERFism sure had to be imported from North America, Australia, and Europe. I want westerners to think about that for a few seconds, too.
