Cite CA Penal Code 396 - "California Penal Code section 396 prohibits excessive and unjustified increases in the prices of essential consumer goods and services, construction services, hotel lodging, and residential rental properties during and shortly after a declared state of emergency or local emergency."
Report to DCBA.LACOUNTY.GOV or call 1-800-593-8222.
You can also call and shame the landlords / rental companies directly.
Donation centers are currently OVERFLOWING. We don't need more donations of stuff, we need more people attacking these landlords and not letting them get away with this shit.

liberals are better at solving interpersonal conflicts than we are. in fact i think their aptitude for solving small-scale stuff precludes an aptitude for large-scale stuff (because they use the same tools for both). there are a few libs whose descriptions of and prescriptions for interpersonal strife i like. dan savage is cringe when he suggests boycotting russian vodka over anti-gay laws, but "parents have a right NOT to know some things," his dirty talk advice ("describe what you did, describe what you're doing, describe what you're going to do"), and 'ggg' are all genuinely good healthy concepts. contrapoints is another cringe lib but her idea of 'epistemological masochism-- that which hurts most is the most true' is such an insightful observation about a specific kind of neurosis. in any case i find it more compelling than "imposter syndrome," which is a person-of-drip/scrub-experience's way of saying 'insecurity.'

Why is being ‘late to the party’ bad? learning to cheerfully dislike other people is I think a critical component of getting along with people who don't like you. Like as soon as I got a solid grasp on the fact that there is a wide swath of humanity that gets on my nerves and that it's my problem, not theirs, it got easier to be around people I find annoying. Once that's settled, it's easy to flip the reasoning around and conclude that if someone doesn't like me, that's a quirk of their own strange and arbitrary tastes, not a judgment upon either of us as a person. You can't like everyone. Not everyone will like you. It's fine. It's not a personal attack in either direction. We can exchange cordial nods across the room and then go on with our lives
