Do you think there are fruits that are kept secret
The now-extinct ones whose DNA was recovered from fruitflies preserved in amber, which they're now raising whole orchards of on Isla Fruitlar. However, they used the DNA from parthenocarpic plants and dragon fruits to patch in the gaps in the original code, and now there are fire breathing, seedless fruits on the loose in Fruitassic Park.
In other news, juice companies and smoothie blender manufacturers are jockeying for sponsorship agreements.

so judging by how astonished people are by it every time we explain it to anybody, it seems like my wife and I might really be onto something here
during the pandemic, we invented something we call "astronaut time."
when it's astronaut time, it's like we are two astronauts wearing the big helmets, moving around the station on totally separate tasks. one of us is outside the space station and one of us is inside the space station. our radios do not work and we have no way of communicating with each other. we might see each other through the lil porthole windows, but we ignore each other because we both have different things to do.
"astronaut time" is how we get total privacy when we live in the same apartment. I will pretend you don't exist. You will pretend I don't exist. we have a nonverbal, zero-contact signal for when astronaut time is over (usually "I'll draw a smiley-face on the whiteboard in the kitchen when I'm done"). No talking, stay out of each other's line of sight, we are actively avoiding each other, unless you are currently experiencing a medical emergency goodbye.
it has been. a godsend. imagine living with your partner and being able to close every single tab in your brain related to social interaction. no fear of being interrupted by a "hey, quick question--" or "sorry to bother you, but do you know where the scissors are?" or "did you want something to eat, too?" Once or twice a month, we look at each other lovingly, hold hands, and say "baby I think I need some astronaut time tonight," and the other person goes "okay cool. bye! have a nice night!" and nobody's feelings are hurt and we both go and have a lovely evening completely by ourselves.
like idk it's a small thing but it's made our lives so much nicer, so if you and your partner/roommate are both people who sometimes need total privacy in order to recharge, maybe try it
I'm the wife in question and I cannot recommend this enough. When I told my therapist about astronaut time, she asked if she could share it with the couples she councils, so even the professionals give it two thumbs up.

But if they reproduce through pollination how can they be sure they no longer reproduce? Maybe they’re anemophilous and are wind-pollinated and if they stand in a strong enough breeze an Entwife, somewhere, conceives an Entseed.

Ok, so, we have a few options:
1.) Ents reproduce exclusively through sexual intercourse, or something close to it
OR
2.) Ents reproduce via pollination and...
- a.) are dioecious, with Ents producing only male flowers and Entwives producing only female flowers, and pollinated either by wind or by animals (or by hand?)
- b.) have bisexual flowers, but which are so specialized that they can exclusively be pollinated by one specific species of pollinator...
The Entwives left the forest so long ago that the Ents no longer remember what they looked like. Treebeard says the Shire sounds like the sort of place they would have loved, with its gardens and flowers and agriculture. Hobbits have folklore of giant bees, named after bumblebees. Certain flowers only release pollen to “buzz pollinators”, like bumblebees.
Could it be that the Ents—who notoriously do everything slowly—failed to evolve quickly enough to compete with agricultural crops for the time and attention of their only pollinator species? Did the Entwives dump the Ents to evolve into regular bees faster than the Ents could even consciously process? DOES SAM GAMGEE THE GARDENER’S BOY KEEP ENTWIVES?!
I think we’ve done it. I think we’ve cracked the code. (Shut the fuck up, Jirt, no one asked you.)
It’s only in the movies that the Ents cannot remember the Ent wives. In the books they’ve described as having golden hair, red cheeks, and eyes like the Ents. Meaning the Entwives probably resembled the ents in appearance.
Likewise in the books the Ents were basically tree like giants instead of giant trees. As seen below
Peter Jackson reimagined the Ents as being giant trees instead of tree like giants so returning to the original question I propose a compromise:
Treebeard from the movies reproduces through pollination by the Ent Wives who are giant bees.
Treebeard from the books fucks. 
“Golden hair”?
“Red (butt) cheeks”?
Sounds like a rusty patched bumblebee to me.

also wenn ich mal nach Alben gehe: Von hier an blind & später auch noch Soundo haben mich in meinem Teenagersein am allermeisten geprägt, da werde ich immer sofort emotional zurückkatapultiert, wenn ich von den Alben was höre
davon abgesehen sind meine absoluten Favoriten was die Alben angeht aber Von an hier an blind & Bring mich nach Hause — was aber natürlich in keiner Weise bedeutet, die anderen wären nicht gut...
was ich an WsH grundsätzlich so liebe ist, dass man über die meisten Lieder so unendlich viel und lange nachdenken kann, dass sie so rätselhaft und poetisch sind, man so unendlich viel in sie reinlegen kann von den Emotionen die man gerade so mit sich rumträgt... also es ist quasi der komplette Gegenentwurf zu diesem deutschsprachigen Musikgenre der letzten Jahre, wo man immer genau das singt, was man meint, also so dieses "ich vermiss dich beim spaghettikochen weil du jetzt in gütersloh wohnst und hier liegt immer noch der kochlöffel den du immer benutzt hast und naja jetzt ist das essen fertig und ich ess dann wohl mal obwohl du nicht da bist" (leicht übertrieben (unless))
die Texte von WsH sind dagegen meistens so metaphorisch und verschachtelt und sprachlich einfach unerreicht unendlich wunderschön
