My daz studio Sonic dolls are taking long time...

That is, Sonic's eyes are not round. So is true for the shape of his head.

And unfortunately, Daz studio doesn't allow you to do all things blender allows. At the same time, Blender rigging is a pain in the ass and doesn't seems suitable to what I plan to do.

Anyway, that's my idea of rigging to get the rubberhose effect:

I'm considering this for the rig and the basic shape of the face...

Face loops idea (so round might be easier but is too classic-ish and the quills don't look so good, especially on Sonic)

Sonic foot that is not a blob. It still needs some fix. 4 fingers like most beasts.

The foot is a blend between human and cat feet, and is symmetric.

The overall topology is settled, now I need minor edits here and there.

Once is finished I'll rig in Daz Studio, I'll add the JCM, chothes, morphs (The character I aim to create with a single model are Sonic, Shadow, Terios, Uncle Chuck and super form, however only Shadow possibly Terios with his longer quills and the super form need a specific morph). They need chlotes (shoes and glowes) and unique piece of fur (like Shadow's chest fur and Chuck's mustaches and bushy eyebrows, protractile claws) and then I'll release for free.

Textures will be like the original ones, but you can edit them to your heart's content (scars, freckes, different coloured blood, dark fur, brindle, white ends, I mention all the head canon related things I see around), just mention me. I might include PDF files to make things easier.

Is taking long but unfortunately, is my first attempt to do a full character mesh. I tried humans but I didn't know how to manage a mid poly model (I won't get in high poly stuffs, there is something I don't einjoy in those models).

A pretty much base idea. The final model will be tris/N-gons free, but there I was testing with the edge loops.

I use Shadow as base because I think his dinamic design is easier to understand, I can predict more what part of the body are mobile and in need of a thicker topology and edgeloops. But the final base model will be either Sonic or a generic hedgehog with straight quills. I have to choose.

Going forward with 3d Sonic and shadow model

Tips on Sonic model. I think I will make a neutral position for the quills. This model should include Sonic (and Terios of course), Shadow and the super version.

Some experiments for the foot topology. Only four toes, like most beasts. I base them on cats foot, not hedgehog foot (and anyway they're similar). The pads will be human like, hidden below the skin (actually, the only mammal that don't have pads are rabbits and hares).

Now, Feet and hands, aswell as face and ears need a more defined topology to move properly. Also, i need to shape the toes to make them more beast shaped (I see both cats and hedgehogs have apparently short toes. Also they are webbed actually). I won't do the web but I'll adapt the rig to allow the toes moving the right way.

Attempt to do Sonic and Shadow for Daz Studio (Based on Sonic generation models. I like them) ...

I did Sonic first, then I just changed Shadow's quills position, trying to non change nor the lenght nor the volume of them. I want them being identical.

Is all a single block, except for Shadow's chest fur. Since the models is just one, Shadoiw's fur will be an addition, like chlotes.

Topology needs to be retouched. It will be not too high poly but the model should look best when subdivided. I also need to fix body proportions, anatomy, topology and details (they need a little neck, like in Sonic Prime. I want to add some collar bones and toes. Movable toes if possible)

I don't know if I will do a shiftable mouth I'll try.

My idea about eyes is making them large, like in Sonic prime/classic Sonic, and making them flexible. I need to fix the eyebrows.

I want them to be able to show proper expressions that don't cause the double eyelid (see Sonic Boom).

The ears should move realistically.The scottish fold-like ears seen in Sonic Prime to show sadness were really cute, but it was not realistic, so I don't know if I'll make them move that way. I think I'll do but I'll give priority to realistic movement (based on cats. I don't know if hedgehogs can move their ears)

I'm also thinking how to make the JCMs morphs. I want them to move nicely.

Blender . Sonic and Shadow (2)

The body, the nose and the muzzle are a unique piece. My idea is to make them bare handed and without shoes. Those piece will be added later so I can dress them the way I want. I still neeed to work with topology and edge flows.

My idea is making their feet animal like, like those...

I analize the shape of the foot of hedgehogs and sphynx cats. They look quite similar in structure. I think Sonic should have pink feet. Shadow's area where his limiters are place should be hairless.

Trying to do a doll of Sonic and Shadow

I mean, the base and then I will rig it and do all the necessary steps. Trying to keep it as simple as possible. Sonic and Shadow will be based on same model (Sonic). Quills and gaze will be adjusted when I will need to work on Shadow. If I will be able to do them i will try with Tails, Knucles and the others.

I still don't know how many polygon I will use but I'm considering low poly.

Blender settled in English so is easier to work with tutorial. I get confused with Italian interface.
