Ao3 you fucking bastard. I'm in the middle of a story!
holmes&watson commission ❤️🔥
a couple pieces I did this summer when our local AMC was rolling out the LoTR rereleases
You can both be gifted at something and an awful person and saying otherwise allows unsafe people to go under the radar because they're talented.
The Vulture article is extremely good reporting and utterly devastating. But it is absolutely one of the most trigger-y pieces of non-fiction writing I have ever read, and would be so even if he hadn't been one of my instructors at Clarion UCSD. It includes specific, horrible details of sexual, emotional, physical, and financial abuse of women and children.
You probably don't need anyone to tell you this, but just in case you do: you do not have to read the article if doing so will cause you harm.
It is enough to know that the allegations are severe, well-sourced, and that behind the kindly, cultured facade was an entitled monster.
No matter what anyone says, you do not need to bear witness. You do not need to harm yourself to be aware. It will not undo the harm he did. Your emotional safety is also important.
Be gentle with yourself and others.
I think Odysseus is the guy everyone else makes talk to the cops when they show up to bust the party.
I think he could do a really good “Hello officer, how are you?” if he had to.
YEAH EXACTLY
Athena is standing behind him whispering the bylaws into his ear.
hold on i need to look this up
it’s been 15 minutes have you finished reading the Odyssey yet?
Watched Granada’s Silver Blaze with my dad the other day. As soon as he saw the cataract knife, he started to very excitedly infodump about Victorian eye surgery to me (he’s an ophthalmologist)
Dad: That’s a cataract knife!
Watson: it’s a cataract knife.
Dad: I knew it! did you know that in that era the way they performed the surgery was by going straight in and pushing the lens out of the way? The problem was that they had no replacement lenses.
Me: …
Dad: The way they discovered how to make them is fascinating! In world war 1 or 2 when the fighter pilots survived accidents or crashes, they would get pieces of the windshield stuck in their eye! The doctors realized that their eyes weren’t rejecting the material, and so they started experimenting with it and making actual lenses!
Me: huh.
That is fascinating
JEREMY BRETT & DAVID BURKE as SHERLOCK HOLMES & DR JOHN WATSON in A SCANDAL IN BOHEMIA (1984)
Holmes looks at him like Ooohh yes you'd like that, wouldn't you? And later Watson will have second thoughts about how to spend the money because well, fancy restaurants aren't a very economical decision, and wouldn't it be better to --
But Holmes will insist that they go because he ADORES Watson's enthusiasm. Look into Watson's delighted face and tell me Holmes would be capable of denying him a wish. I'm waiting
@i-dont-talk-for-days-on-end This needs to be a fic.
The only real OTP
It’s true. It’s THE best.
I must be truly in the fandom now after I surprised myself by writing a Granada fic over the course of the weekend!
TITLE: Beloved's Ghost
SUMMARY: After Holmes' death at the Falls, Watson falls gravely ill while working nonstop through his grief. He’s visited in his feverish state by Mrs. Hudson, Lestrade, Mycroft, and…Sherlock Holmes?
NOTES: I think either Watson works for this - depends on when during the hiatus you place it. When writing, my mind started off with David Burke at the beginning but then ended with Edward Hardwicke.
No but I hear this man's voice whenever I don't feel like eating but I need to eat.
i have no time for anything lately, so here are some things I did a while ago
details of the first one under the cut
i think about them a normal amount
I'm totally normal about them
