– Excerpt from Ta-Nehisi Coates' The Message / Image from Amnesty International's article "The Occupation of Water"
“The first installment from the ongoing tape, ‘untitled’. An intimate dialogue that weaves back and forth between representations of a figure (of resistance) and subject with, Soha Bechara, ex-Lebanese National Resistance fighter in her Paris dorm room taped (during the last year of the Israeli occupation) one year after her release from captivity in El-Khiam torture and interrogation centre (S. Lebanon) where she had been detained for 10 years, 6 years in isolation.”
the bar for the nyt is so fucking low at this point but somehow they keep burrowing beneath it. "although she moved to the US as a toddler" "no american officials attended" NO AMERICAN OFFICIALS HAVE CONTACTED HER FAMILY. they've been asking for some acknowledgment a fucking phone call for a WEEK since she was killed and somehow the fact that biden and harris and the american government have deemed her life and her death to have no value to them, that gets propped up by The Paper Of Record as evidence that she was in fact not really an american and thus it's a self-proving tautology that it must be true

rula halawani, "negative incursions," 2002, archival prints
"in negative, the pictures were able to express my own feelings merged with the feelings of my people, to explain what had happened to us and to palestine. as negatives, they express the negation of our reality that the invasion represented." highlighting and rendering visible what is normally concealed in shadow, and subsequently masking the things that are usually visible, halawani’s series negative incursions obfuscates the easy consumption of images of atrocity by reversing the legibility of the positive image by displaying her photographs in negative. [Photo ID] From interview with Palestinian lawyer Fadi Bakr, who was detained by the IDF at the Sde Teiman torture camp for forty days:
"They [the IDF] still didn't commit war crimes? They are only committing war crimes. I have a degree in law, I have obtained a specialization in human rights required to work in the international courts of justice. My degrees in law, human rights and humanity, they were of no use to me. During the interrogation I asked for a lawyer, for the presence of the international Red Cross, to talk with my family. They refused and when I asked them to explain, he [the soldier] said 'We are at war.' If international laws and human rights are not safeguarded during war, they are unnecessary in times of peace."
Fadi (also interviewed by Middle East Eye) also recounted in detail his torture, of which he said "the lightest and most preferable" was the cigarettes put on on his body, but also included medical neglect, starvation, surgery without anesthesia, beatings, a "disco room" where they played music so loudly his ears bled, and being forced to witness a fellow prisoner being raped by a dog. He was contacted after release and told not to submit complaints about his treatment (particularly to the media) by the IDF soldiers.
This was one of his last posts before a missile tore him, his wife and daughter to pieces😢
I Don't want to End up in a Bag
By: Ibrahim Algoula
I don't want to end up in a bag!!
I give up everything.. except my death!
I want a complete shroud, 192 centimeters long.
I will not give up my body, I want it whole. I want my arms, my feet, my heart, my head, my twenty toes and fingers, and my eyes too.
I want to return to the womb of the earth, as I was created from it, the same earth here in this land
I do not mind if I am buried in a mass grave... But I want my name on a headstone, my age as well, and that I am from here, from this slaughtered homeland
I would like, with bitter hope, that my grave be in a real cemetery, not a street, no sidewalk, nothing else
Let it be our last wish and our right
farewell!

It's the exact same rhetoric we've been getting from Genocide Joe, she will not be any better. If you expect the self proclaimed "top cop" to be any less fascistic then you are deeply unserious
These are all actual conversations I had with @mohammedayesh . In fact, while I was working on finishing this comic today, he sent me a video of bomber planes flying above them. There is not a single place in Gaza that is safe.
BUT YOU CAN HELP BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE

Cat’s out of the bag!!
We (as in, Komodobits and a couple of dumbasses including yours truly) have been working on a way to raise even more money for Palestine through Komodobit’s Charity Drive that she’s started in March.
Currently, the fundraiser for the Palestinian Child’s Relief Fund that she’s set up 5 months ago is sitting a little over 4000$, raised solely through donations for fic commissions.
I reached out to @cuddlebabies a few months back saying “hey, i think i may have an idea to raise even more funds, but i also know your stance about hard copies. But hear me out, because i think this would be a kickass way to both give something this fandom has wanted for so long, and raise a shit-ton of money for Palestine”. So we had a lock of back and forth, and conversations of how this was gonna go, and how we could handle it, but what if people don’t like it, etc.
Ultimately, we’ve worked on this collection of three books for the past few months and now that’s they’re basically ready, this is how it’s gonna go:
I encourage everyone to read the details and fine prints of how this going to work by clicking on this link. KB explains everything down to the cost of each book, the importance of consent, donation, and everything in-between.
An important addition because it’s already been asked several times since the original tweet was posted: yes, you will be able to get your hands on a regular set of copies (slightly different from the three sets of raffles copies)… if we can get the fundraiser up the the 8k marks! That is roughly 100 raffle entires right now, and I know this fandom well-enough to know we can get to the point.
One last note about everyone’s involvement on this: original font and artwork on front cover by artist @mycolour, Polaroids on the back by @winchester-reload, typeset, cover creation, map work and regular cheerleading by lil’ old me.
If you have any questions at all, please reach out! The raffle doesn’t start until July 5th, so don’t donate before that (that is, if you want to enter the raffle, otherwise please do donate if you can!).
It’s been a blast working on such an important project for such an important cause, and for a story that’s one of the most beloved in this fandom.
I’m counting on you to have this circulate as widely as possible.
Now and everyday, from the River to the Sea, PALESTINE WILL BE FREE 🇵🇸
thinking about the very common idea among antebellum american slaveowners that ex-slaves would initiate a race war as soon as they were free and that whites would never be safe among people they or their ancestors owned so they should be moved to a different country. and how that was completely stupid and the racial violence post-abolition was racist anti-black violence not slews of anti-white revenge killings across the nation and a dissolution of society. anyway thinking about that and also the insistence from the zionist crowd that if palestinians were given equal rights or even if the occupation slackened its grip a little every single israeli from the river to the sea would be murdered by vengeful palestinians.
stop writing fanfiction we need political assassins now more than ever

@magicallarynx You asked for a source, but tumblr wouldn’t let me provide a link in the replies, so I’m adding a couple sources here
