And HERE is a full length video of REQUIEM! Beautiful performance, I highly recommend it to watch, also dancing here a soloist role! Choreography by Jacek Tyski.
Storytime!...
Nobody is perfect, everyone is human... and onstage, literally anything can happen! I thought I’d share from my last show as Juliet... My parents were watching, and it was the first time they’d seen me really do a principal role since I’d been Clara in the Nutcracker at around age 11, so I was a little stressed out for the first couple of acts! I messed up some pirouettes in my first couple of entrances, but hopefully played it off well, and we got around to act 3, where I have the most to do (3 back-to-back solos, duets with the mother, the priest, and Juliet’s friends, and then finally a long solo with the vial of “poison”)... When I receive the “poison” from the priest, I am supposed to put it under a pillow on my bed, then I take it out again after my duet with the mother. So I’ve placed it carefully, covered it with a pillow, danced with the mother, and I return to the bed to grab the potion for the scene where I’m deciding whether or not to take it and... IT’S GONE. I freaked out, looking under every pillow, searching everywhere, and it just disappeared! the WHOLE DANCE revolves around the potion and it’s NOT THERE. I had to think fast, so I just started doing the solo as if I was contemplating it the whole time, and I had a plan that I’d just fake it using my hands or something... the show HAD to go on! Luckily, people backstage noticed and threw me a different bottle from the wings, so for the final drink I had something to act with, but honestly that was one of the most terrifying moments of my career ahaha! The director and choreographer both told me it was a great performance anyway, and that it truly shows professionalism when you deal with a situation like that and continue dancing no matter what! just goes to show that... LITERALLY ANYTHING can happen while you’re onstage, but what matters is how YOU react to it!!! The audience doesn’t demand perfection, rather professionalism ;) xx
