Nesta deserves a painting in the house
"Every piece of awe had been picked by Feyre herself, or painted by her, so many of them portraits and duplications of them- her friends her new family.
There was not one of her, naturally."
________ notice: is is a long spoiler rant from Acofas. And I'm not apologizing for any of it. I've always had an indeffernt feeling for the ACOTaR series, it was never really my favorite. But I like SJM and read the books regardless.________
My heart hurts for Nesta. The fluff of the book is great, but it's all about the inner circle fluff. I want more of Nesta and SOMEONE please help her.
Poor Nesta has a serious case of depression and PTSD. 😕 she's alone and scared to let anyone in her life, and hates herself and is taking it out on everything around her.
She doesn't know how to coop with her hurt and loss. She's independent and i can see why she's sleeping around, she wants to call the shots, she's tired of being ordered around and against her will. She wants to have her own freeeom and choices. The inner circle isn't helping by forcing her to do things, or kicking her out of the city.
CASSIAN isn't helping, and Nesta is angry and furious that the whole city of the Court knows that Cassian has a claim on her, from what happened in the battle. You think she likes when people whisper that she is already claimed to the Illyrian warrior. She DOESNT WANT THAT. So she fights every step of the way because to her it's another set of shackles. She doesn't want a Fae to set claim to her, but that reputation is already floating around and it infuriates her.
NESTA IS A STRONG INDEPENDANT WOMAN WHO NEEDS NO MAN. So stop forcing it on her.
She feels like she has no place in the world, she doesn't know what to do, and no one to talk to. Feyre has Rhys and Elaine, the inner circle has each other. She's feels like her life was taken against her will and nows she fighting back against everything that was taken from her.
And THAT is what she's taking out on the inner circle and Cassian, (also his arrogant attitude does not help at all). The Inner circle is like the funnel of everything she sees in the Fae world. She doesn't know who else to take it out on. 'Targeting' The inner circle is her only way she feels she can get back at the Fae world for what it did to her.
She is broken, and scared. But she would never admit it. She hiding it behind her one night stands, and drinking, arguing and avoiding the inner circle, and locking herself away, because she doesn't know what else to do.
"I want you out of Velaris," Feyre breathes, her voice shaking.
Nesta tried-tried and failed- not to feel the blow, the sting of the words."
WTF IS THIS. Nesta needs help, kicking her out won't solve anything. SHE NEEDS HELP FROM SOMEONE NOT A HIGH LORD, OR INNER CIRCLE. A third party that has no bias, in Velaris.
Rhysand was a prick the whole book to her, which obviously didn't help. He looked down on her, which Nesta hates, because she's trying and failing to find her self worth at this point. SHE FEELS LIKE SHE HAS NOTHING LEFT. And rhysand is kicking her down the ladder every time he interacts with her. He's a prick. SHE NEEDS A POSITIVE INFLUENCE. And one time invites to a party won't cut it.
Nesta is basically being treated like trash by Rhys because Rhys didn't like the way she treated Feyre back in the beginning.
Well guess what Rhysie, SUCK IT UP AND MOVE ON. She's family now, and you need to put your prejudices aside to help her. YOU ARE A DICK AND AN ASSHOLE.
The ending of the book left a sour taste in my mouth. Granted it sets up for the next book is this series, but I'm still reeling about the way Nesta was treated.
I've never had a book effect me like this before. I've always loved Sjm and my favorite series is still TOG. But I was lukewarm toward ACOTAR series. And this book just kinda...
