Hi, I'm Artheme (arth-emm-ee), you can call me Art or Arty (or just Artheme is fine too lol). __________________________________________________ 29. They/Them. __________________________________________________ Please, no minors. I will soft/hard block. __________________________________________________ 'Queer' as in 'YOU Don't Get To Define MY Identity'. Rad-Inclus (TERFs Fuck Off). __________________________________________________ Currently possesed by Gay Pirate Brainworms. Izzy Hands Apologist/Understander/Defense Attorney. __________________________________________________ Please stop harassing real people over fictional characters. I don't care what Blorbo did (or didn't do), he's not real, I am. __________________________________________________ I talk a lot, if you wanna read (or block, that's fair) things I have to say check: #the dork is being a dork (for original posts and reblogs). __________________________________________________ I do not share fundraiser (or other similarly requested 'signal boost') posts unless I know (and therefore trust) the OP, do not send me asks to share your post (I know most of these are bots, my point still stands). __________________________________________________ I will include trigger tags ot the best of my ability on original posts (within reason) but I do not have the mental capacity to trigger tag any and every post I reblog that may need one, please feel free to unfollow/block me as you may need, I have no hard feelings about people protecting themselves.

Imagine being stupid enough to think that Izzy fans are criticizing you for making a joke about a thing that they ALSO laugh about and not the obvious attempt to bait them into angry responses by telling us in the post you're sharing it because you think it will piss them off.

If you had just posted the edit? We'd either ignore it or laugh with you. But you didn't want that kind of response so you added a caption to the effect of saying 'this post is not for you, I am mocking you' and guess what? People don't like being mocked! Funny that!

Here’s the article on the matter:

Surely everyone who actually gives a shit about this issue and didn’t just yell “drone strikes!” to excuse their lazy, selfish asses for not voting for Democrats (while ignoring that Trump vastly increased them) will share this information far and wide, right? 🙃

Repeat after me:

Izzy having internalized homophobia is not canon.

Ed borrowed Stede’s clothes–Stede who has already been mistaken for a woman based on his clothing choices–and Izzy called him “a sad insane shell of a man merely posing as Blackbeard.”

Ed wore Stede’s floral robe while singing, organizing a talent show, and cleaning up his cabin, and Izzy called him “a namby pamby in a silk gown, PINING for his BOYfriend.”

Sounds pretty homophobic to me.

Stede Bonnet is the picture of 1700s gentlemanly masculinity. Stede was also twice called 'heavyset' by the same people who mockingly called him a woman but he's not actually that either now is he? Its almost as if bullies say things that aren't true because they think its funny and they know it'll get to you.

Izzy did not say any of that because of what Ed was wearing, Izzy didn't give two shits until he saw Stede in Ed's leathers with his weapons. (and the actual quote is 'you're just an insane, unpleasant, shell of a man who's merely posing as Blackbeard', if you're gonna quote the show to prove your point then at least get it right) leave alone that Izzy was upset because they were being chased by the Spanish and Ed was playing dress-up while Izzy was begging him (as the person in charge) for a plan, y'know, to not die.

Ed was going through a crisis and making drastically life changing decisions in that floral robe (again, belonging to someone who is the ideal of masculine gentlemanly fashion of the time) Izzy didn't say anything through the blanket fort or the talent show, the cleaning wasn't what made him speak either, what did it was Ed deciding unilaterally that they were all going to quit pirating immediately after defecting from the king's service.

Izzy says shit he doesn't mean when he's stressed and fearing for his life. He apologized for the first outburst we see from him (which Ed tells him he's correct for saying) and he likely would have apologized for the second once they both had time to cool their heads but Ed chose to go all scorched-earth and take that chance at reconciliation away from either of them.

He goes for 'PINING for his BOYfriend' because 1. he's jealous, and 2. it serves to minimize what Stede was to Ed so that he stops feeling the big 'make a life changing decision' emotions over him and he can move on in a more reasonable mindset, to get back to pirating, which keeps them alive. Healthy? No. Homophobic? Also fucking no???

And jesus christ can we please stop pretending like 'namby pamby' is some big bad slur? Come on now. The show doesn’t go for actual slurs, do we really think they’re gonna go for kiddie glove ‘slurs’ to make a point that the little leather-daddy dude who parallels Stede’s wife is homophobic in a show that the writers and cast and crew have said ‘has no homophobia’ in it?

You’re entitled to your (bad) opinions and your (bad) reads on the characters and all but you have to realize that not everyone agrees, they’re not canon, and this is a pretty fucking rude and dismissive comment to leave on a post you could have just ignored.

tbh I’ve always found it very funny that Elrond is like “there’s no point bringing Glorfindel on the quest, even though he’s a balrog-slayer. You won’t need balrog-slayers” and then thirty pages later they run into a balrog

The first night Bilbo camped with the company he very nearly said something about it, but, having no idea what dwarves are and thinking it might be rude, he kept the observation to himself and decided that dwarves must be some kind of fungus. It improved his estimation of them most incredibly, and was, in fact, one of the observations he was most keen to pass on when he got back, seeing as how—even if it didn’t quite make him respectable, per se—it at least provided a valuable new addition to hobbits’ mushroom-lore, which no one (not even a certain few silver-spoon possessing relatives) could fault him for.

#anyways it’s common knowledge in the shire that dwarves are actually just a kind of mushroom#but no one says anything#because they think (seeing as how the dwarves haven’t brought it up themselves) it would be rude (via @willowcrowned)
