I’m back on here because I’m age regressing but it’s really shocking how much kinder tumblr is compared to the rest of the internet. I really let a good thing go there.
Take me back to 2008 when The Jonas Brothers were in full-swing & the only thing that was burning up was the song & tour instead of the world and we were just metaphorically slipping into the lava and trying to keep from going under instead of it being a reality
Imagine you’re in a room, and Fred stands up and says “Vote for me and I’ll give everyone fifty bucks and I’ll punch everyone named John right in the face.” You can probably assume most people will divide into one of three categories: 1) Those who want to see John punched in the face, so vote for Fred. 2) Those who don’t particularly want to see guys named John punched in the face, but want $50 enough that they vote for Fred anyways. 3) And those who are like “Fuck no, I can’t get behind someone who will punch people named John in the face!” (I think we can easily rule out “people who don’t want $50” as insignificant) To the people who vote for Fred, the distinction between #1 and #2 is pretty big. The people who fall in catagory #2 probably don’t even talk about guys named John at all - it isn’t a thought or conversation at all. And when Fred gets in and goes around punching guys named John in the face, #2 will say “Yeah, but we don’t hate John! We’re not John-haters!” and really believe it. But for guys named John, the difference between #1 and #2 is miniscule. They’re all John-haters in John’s mind, because even if #2 doesn’t actively want to see John punched in the face, they didn’t care enough to give anything up to stop it when Fred openly declared he’d punch John in the face. I think the Johns are in the right here. Not everyone who voted for Trump voted for him because he is a racist, but everyone who voted for Trump clearly wasn’t turned off enough by his racist speech, platform, and supporters to *not* vote for him.
no offense but I’ve never gotten over anything that’s happened to me in my life
Where all of my problems began:
6th Century B.C in Ancient Greece where a little guy named “Thespis” had an idea.
i’m concerned about boys with mental illnesses and eating disorders and abusive relationships and sexual assault survivor stories and self-harming tendencies who never get the attention or care or help they need because all of those things “don’t happen to men” or because “all men are horrible monsters” and i just wanna say if you’re a boy and you’re struggling with something hard, your gender doesn’t diminish or dismiss your struggles or make them any less significant or difficult and i love you and i’m here for you
“You started young, right? What is your advice for young people?”

Love Never Dies, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, circa 2010
theatre things that remind me of the hogwarts houses
gryffindor: auditioning for the first time, being alone on stage, long choreography rehearsals, the adrenaline of opening night, designing the set on the grid, hauling furniture onto the set, cue to cues, writing a play, improv comedy, waiting at the stage door after a show.
hufflepuff: getting flowers and gifts backstage, taking the final curtain call, highlighting lines, bringing snacks to rehearsal, read-throughs, pulling costumes from stock, set dressing, paint swatches, warm lighting design, perfectly blended sound, directing, waking into a theater you’ve never been in before.
ravenclaw: character analysis, memorizing lines, learning tight harmonies, having the show become second nature, stage makeup, set construction, costume fittings, mic checks, organized prop tables, writing cues, stage managing, experimental theatre, saving old playbills and ticket stubs.
slytherin: callbacks, practicing after rehearsal, selling program ads, an understudy/swing going on for the first time, fight calls, strike, production meetings, late night paint calls, cool-toned lighting design, spiking the stage, fly rails, producing, watching a bootleg, playbill giveaways.
can we please bring body glitter back in 2017. we already have enough to deal with in 2016 but 2017 is the year we need to fully commit ourselves to glitter and all things that sparkle. who is with me.
