Way back in 2006, when I was 16 or so, I had a subscription to the magazine called Game Informer. At the time, I had a playstation 2 and knew I wouldn't be getting a PS3 any time soon. Nevertheless, I saw pictures and articles about Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII in the magazine and excitedly cut them out (along with other stuff) to make collages.
Since I knew I wouldn't be able to play them without a PS3 and I knew I couldn't afford a PS3, I didn't pay attention to release dates, or really much of anything about them besides the pictures. Then somehow, in my mind, the two games merged into one. When I finally got a playstation 3 last spring, I excitedly bought Final Fantasy XIII to go along with it. I played through the whole thing, wondering where that guy with the blue hair was...
I started this Final Fantasy blog around the same time (I remember posting FFXIII characters before I knew who they were as I waited for my game to arrive in the mail.) And through tumblr, I re-discovered that Final Fantasy Versus XIII was a separate thing... And now it's FFXV. I wonder when I'll get to play it? It depends not on release dates, but on what sort of employment I can obtain... As of now, Playstation 4 will not be happening for me any time soon.
However, I'm still excited that Final Fantasy XV and Playstation 4 seem to be genuine upcoming things now. They had pictures of this game in magazines seven years ago... But I've never created a video game, so I can't complain. (I do wish they'd make more FF games for playstation 3 though... That console still seems really new to me, so I'm not ready for the next one...) I'll let you all know in about five or ten years what I think of Playstation 4. :D
(And hooray to Kingdom Hearts fans! Kingdom Hearts 3! Yay! I'm not too into it, but I can feel your excitement radiating through my computer screen. I'm so happy for you.)
