My favourite male Final Fantasy characters.

I'm going to pick my favourite Final Fantasy character from each of the games I've played, and tell you why...

Because I'm really bored...

Okay.  Let's begin:

Favourite character from Final Fantasy VII - - Vincent Valentine!!

They tried to make him into an awesome bad-ass character, and they succeeded!  We first meet Vincent after solving a series of clues/puzzles to unlock a somewhat secret room in the basement of the Shinra Mansion, where he's sleeping... in a coffin...  He's got an awesome red cape, a strange metallic arm, cool pointy shoes, lovely flowing locks of ebony, and carries a rifle of some sort.  But looks aren't everything.  He's got a tragic and mysterious past, which always makes for a good character.  He also is a very strong member to have in your party, and his limit breaks can be pretty awesome (but can sometimes do more harm than good...) Chaos looks pretty cool anyway...

So Vincent's my first place.  Who's second?  Cid Highwind, of course.

And now on to Final Fantasy VIII - - Selphie Tilmit!!

It's a shame there aren't any better photos of Selphie out there.  She's really one of my all-time favourite characters.  She's cute and has crazy 1970's hair.  Out of all the characters in Final Fantasy VIII, she seems like the one I'd be most likely to make friends with.  She's not grouchy like Squall, or too serious like Quistis, or annoying like Zell.  She seems sweet, and her limit breaks are potentially pretty awesome!

Selphie comes in first place.  Who would win second? Squall Leonhart!!

My favourite Final Fantasy IX character - - Vivi Ornitier!! (Orunitia)

I think Vivi might be my all time favourite character out of every Final Fantasy game I've ever played. (I'm sure this is a popular opinion.)  Not only is Vivi adorable, but his story is so heart-breaking.  He actually makes me cry when I play Final Fantasy IX.  He's such a sweetheart... Not only is his character interesting, but he's also a good party-member.  Vivi has very nice magic spells (of course - he's a black mage.) and is, in my experience, the most useful character to have in my party.

Favourite character in Final Fantasy X (and X-2) - - Rikku!

Rikku is the first character in FFX who can steal items from enemies, which is often one of my favourite Final Fantasy moves.  I love hoarding items...  But that's not the only reason I like her - none of the other thieves made my top-favourite list... I like Rikku also because she has a positive personality, is the only female character who can do much damage with physical attacks at first, and is the only female character who can go into water areas.  She doesn't let being a girl stop her from kicking ass.  She also is Al Bhed, which I like - as they seem like a religious minority in Spira, which I can relate to.  Her outfit is also one of my favourites in FFX.

My favourite character in Final Fantasy XII - - Balthier!

I've said this before, and I'll say it again (and I mean no offense to die-hard fans of Final Fantasy XII) but I could just not get into the plot of this one.  It was so hard for me to force myself to care about these characters...  Again, if you loved this one, I still love you, and I hope you still love me too...  If you told me you didn't like Final Fantasy IX or X, I'd still like you, even though those are my favourites...

At any rate, I chose Balthier, because from what I remember he is a pretty good fighter, he's a sky pirate, which sounds pretty awesome, and he wears really pretty rings and bracelets.  I like to think he's wearing them as part of his Pride support.  Don't know if he himself is gay, but I hope he's supporting people who are.  It's also funny that he runs around with a creature who looks like a hooker-bunny...  Very strange. (Fran's actually one of the best people to have in your party though, I think...)

Favourite Final Fantasy XIII character - - Oerba dia Vanille!!!

I often find I'm a fan of the Final Fantasy character who is meant to be the cute, cheerful personality, and Vanille is no exception.  I like her cheerful attitude, and her ability to stay emotionally strong and upbeat even with everything she's hiding from the others and having to deal with on her own.  I know a lot of people think her accent is annoying, but I love it!  It's kind of half-Australian, half-????...  I even do her accent sometimes when I'm talking to my sister or my dog, just because I think it's so fun. ^_^  I'm also a fan of her relationship with Fang and her colourful apparel.

Who wins second place?  Fang!! (who nearly ties for first...  I love Fang!)

Final Fantasy XIII-2 - - Caius

Uggghhh...  I haven't played this whole game yet...  From what I have played so far, I'm not really a fan of any of the characters, so I've chosen the villain this time.  Serah is too nice, which is pretty boring...  And Noel looks just like Sora from Kingdom Hearts, which annoys me.  I guess I could have chosen Mog... I don't know...  Caius is really pretty.
