Persona 5 the Animation - Dengeki Comic Anthology Chapter 12: Two-Faced Syndrome
I highly appreciate the Yusuke and Goro rarepair due to their shared common ground of having shitty dads who selfishly used them and having Yusuke be able to intuitively see through Akechi’s fake nice guy facade was a nice touch
get it goro
when the thieves suspect there is a traitor within their midst, there's only one way to deal with him😳😳
or i saw that one bullying stock photo that looked like a renaissance painting and i got inspired ♥
Piece for @akekitaweek2020 day 1:Autumn
your smile is warmer than the sun that shines on us
okay but freckles goro is good because imagine yusuke seeing him without makeup for the first time and just spending a good few minutes with goro’s face in his hands inspecting all the little markings on his skin that he never got to see before. finding so much beauty in the natural state of somebody who used to have to be dolled up all the time

the way the thieves lean so heavily on the “Yusuke’s just a weirdo freak” narrative like they all collectively forgot how hard the guy hustled them when the Madarame arc was going on.
anyway. pov where the thieves pass the memo onto Akechi, like ‘heads up man Yusuke’s kinda eccentric idk if you really wanna hang with him.’ but actually……………………….. turns out Yusuke’s an absolute observant shady bitch & this visit to the nearby museum’s got Akechi ugly snickering behind his sleeve the whole ride home.
Rokuro Saito please never stop blessing us
i don't talk about akekita enough. so yeah anyway, please imagine yusuke going straight to akechi's apartment after a long day. when the detective opens the door, yusuke just drops his head on his shoulder, closing his eyes.
without a word akechi closes the door with a soft click, trying not to move the other as he does. he runs a hand through his hair.
'tired?'
'yes'
yusuke lifts up his head.
'but i also missed you.'
akechi tries not to smile too wide at that, choosing to wrap his arms around him in a quiet embrace instead.
thinking about……… yusuke’s ‘had i not met you all, i would have become just like him’ text after the boiler room incident and u know what let’s dive into that.
yusuke had no one to rely on but madarame, the few seniors that he has has already left to save themselves away from the abuse, and he couldn’t really fault them for leaving, he would only be a burden if they took him with them. he’s been relying on only himself at a young age, with no real friend since the thieves found him. and slowly…… it gets better. he’s unlearning the abuse and manipulation, learning to make art for himself again. is he okay? barely. now, he’s all alone, an orphan with no adult to guide him. lives day to day saving up and goes to a small dorm room to call his place. but hey, now he has people. people to call friends, friends who are there for you and know all about the shit you went through who lend you a helping hand away from the terror, who tries as much as they can to give you a place to call home in this thing called ‘friendship.’
now imagine him realizing this when they find out akechi is still alive but definitely not okay. the jig is up, shido is no more and akechi’s come back all of a sudden. he’s angry and hurt. he stops faking it and starts acting more like his 'ugly’ true self that his adoring crowd would be shocked to see. and yet in yusuke’s eyes the anger feels…….. familiar. it’s exactly as he felt back then when angry and hurt was all he ever felt, before he got past it slowly but surely. still there but controlled. akechi never got to control it, he let the anger control and consume him for the past few years, because it’s what kept him going. and now that it’s uncapped and there’s nothing and no one to lashed it out on there’s…………….. emptiness. he can see him crash and burn until there is nothing and he doesn’t like akechi, barely considers him an acquaintance, but he can’t just. leave him alone.
so he tries to atleast be there. the same way akira was there for him. the same way ryuji and ann tried to cheer him up in his own little ways. he keeps akechi company, walks back to the stations with him, tries to start conversations sometimes, makes him be his muse when they’re idling and soon enough, maybe even invite him out to this little store that sells cheap but good food. and akechi? he doesn’t understand. he’s confused and annoyed at first, because wow, art boy finally notices him enough to be a nuisance? and yet. he still goes with him to his little invites, still nods along and answers one or two lines, still shuts up and stays still when yusuke brings out a sketchpad because hey, better to have someone to insult and pick a fight with rather than being alone all the time right?
and it’s actually…… nice. because it doesn’t feel like yusuke tolerates him (atleast not anymore), maybe the way he ignores him when he makes a berating comment does get on his nerves, but sometimes yusuke snaps back and he doesn’t let akechi belittle him, and it’s fun. and sometimes it finally feels like someone in this damn world understands what it’s like to fend for yourself with no one to really look up to. sometimes it feels nice to finally be himself and have someone still be there to see it all. it’s nice to feel like you’re on equal terms with someone who just. understands.
anyway i think their dynamic would’ve been neat. they’re neat.
Now I have to think of Yusuke attempting to draw Goro for some reason (”there is something ineffable about you Akechi-kun, I can only explain it on canvas”). Goro gets bullied into sitting model for hours and he kinda gets grumpy about it.
And the drawings all turn out objectively great, and all other thieves compliment them on the result, but Yusuke is never satisfied. The first one he does has Goro in a demure pose with a smile but Yusuke just says no. This drawing is a lie. You’re not behind those eyes. Then later he catches Goro throwing a fit about his take out coffee being messed up and they work on recreating that expression. Yusuke’s judgment: feral and raw but it doesn’t capture his inherent innocence and romanticism. And so they go back and forth but every time there is an aspect of Goro’s personality that Yusuke finds lacking in the painting.
And Goro kinda goes from annoyance to bafflement to being flattered maybe? Does Yusuke just want to spend time with him? Look at him? Study him? Or does he maybe even know him?
a calm afternoon 😌
