Logan and Wade definitely got their atoms mixed in the reactor and I wonder if Logan can break the fourth wall a bit too now?

Like after the events of the film, Logan can kinda feel or hear the fourth wall but doesn't know what it is till he sees Wade talk to the wall again, except, he can see the audience for a moment

"what the fuck!?"

"yes?"

"is that what you see when you talk to a wall?"

"GASP! You can see the fourth wall!?"

"the what?"

I like to imagine that Logan can barely perceive the fourth wall unless Wade is actively engaging with it in front of him.

And at first he just feels like he's going crazy or something, eventually he comes to accept it and is just on edge a bit because he's hyper aware that he's being constantly watched even if he can't see them. Eventually he's just used to it and then suddenly connects the dots of what Wade explained before, and realizes that he's had 0 real control over his life because some asshole "gods" in a different universe created him and wrote his backstory.

So naturally he gets up and starts cursing out and ranting at a wall happening whoever decided to torture him half his life gets an ear full.

"peanut you ok? Your talking to a wall?"

"yea that fourth wall shit, I'm telling these assholes how fucked they are"

"Logan, the fourth wall is behind you"

"FUCK!"

Reasons why I love it: Rudy Stevens has my entire heart. It's so fun to see a Steve that is actually really good at maintaining a secret identity (until he catches feelings, that is), and having multiple Captain Americas (Captains America?) is really great, especially when you get all three of them in the same room, snarking at each other. Seeing how most identity porn features Tony getting close to Steve in multiple identities, it's actually really fun to see that trope reversed. And the action parts later in the fic are amazing, I love how Tony is so nonchalant about being in danger, and Steve fretting over him is just lovely. This fic is fantastic, and I hope you give it a shot, if you haven't already!

once again thinking about how loud the war must have been for steve. how many times he reflexively reached up to cover his ears before he was able to get himself to a place of almost being used to it. or at least bearing it. how it never truly became bearable, and he'd get back to his tent at the end of a long night or a hotel on leave and no amount of covering his ears would block out the ringing in his head

and i'll forever be feral over the thought of bucky coming in and gently covering steve's hands over his ears with his own and murmuring, "I know, pal, i know"
