IDW announced two upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog projects for later this fall: Tails’ 30th Anniversary Special and Scrapnik Island. The former, a four-issue miniseries written by Daniel Barnes and illustrated by Jack Lawrence with colors by Nathalie Fourdraine, will kick off in October 2022. Sonic The Hedgehog: Tails’ 30th Anniversary Special will come out in November, featuring a new 30-page (for 30 years!) story by series regular Ian Flynn, with art by Aaron Hammerstrom and colors by Reggie Graham inspired by the classic games.
IDW will continue their line of kid-friendly Godzilla comics with Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors—All Hail The King, by Erik Burnham and Dan Schoening, who did the first Monsters & Protectors series. The five-issue miniseries debuts in October.
Ram V and artist Rafael Albuquerque’s “Gotham Nocturne” story arc kicks off this week in Detective Comics #1062:
Ram talked about how Gotham lends itself to creating a gothic-themed story, how this arc will provide more depth and context to the Arkham family and its ties to the city, and his reaction to the special audio message/sound effect that fans and readers can hear when they see the ad for “Gotham Nocturne” hitting books on sale next week. Detective Comics #1062 arrives in comic book stores and participating digital platforms on July 26.
Batman Incorporated, which spins out of the events of the “Abyss” storyline in Batman and the 2022 Batman Annual. It’s written by Ed Brisson with art by John Timms, and arrives in comic book stores on Oct. 11.
Punchline, the sidekick to Joker first introduced in 2020, gets a miniseries in October titled Punchline: The Gotham Game. It’s written by the wife-and-husband team of Tini and Blake Howard, with artwork by Gleb Melnikov.
Writer Christopher Cantwell and artist Lan Medina will launch a Gold Goblin tie-in limited series during Dark Web that “sets up a new status quo for Norman Osborn.”

During the Jim Lee & Friends panel in San Diego yesterday, DC’s publisher and CCO welcomed Milestone founder and legendary artist Denys Cowan to the stage to discuss, among other things, Milestone Generations, a documentary film directed by Justice A. Whitaker. It’s about the relaunch of Milestone Media and will air in HBO MAX starting July 29. Here’s a look at the trailer:
Back in 2021 Blue Beetle: Graduation Day made it to the final four of the Dc Round Robin tournament but was eventually beaten out (Robins went on to win). But the series by Josh Trujillo and Adrián Gutierréz is getting a second chance at life.
Novelist and Teen Titans: Raven writer Kami Garcia is writing the original young adult graphic novel Constantine: Distorted Illusions. Drawn by Isaac Goodhart (Victor & Nora) the book “tells a reimagined story of a young Constantine, a new version of a character with foibles and weaknesses that will feel very familiar to longtime fans.”
Writer/artist Sina Grace and colorist Cris Peter are working on a new Superman graphic novel titled Superman: The Harvests of Youth. The graphic novel features Clark Kent during his high school years in Smallville, as “he grapples with the mortality of his friends and family, teen isolation and the seductive nature of online subcultures built around hate and anger.”
The long-awaited new series will be written by Jordan Ifueko with art by Alba Glez.
