Twitter crosspost because it'll do better here.
I just realised, Rutherford is now the only one of the original main 4 that hasn't had a stint off the Cerritos since the show starts. I guess even T'Lyn has since she starts the show off the ship. I do think that kind of lines up with him having a lot less going on compared to the other 3.
Season 1: Borg Vs Romulans Season 2: Throw some Pakleds and Klingons into the mix Season 3: The Crystalline Entity Season 4: The Whale Probe & Breen Season 5: Giant Apollo Hand! Tholians! The Vejur Cloud!
My genuine hottest Lower Decks take is while this escalation is extremely fun, the best one is still the one from season 1 because I think the simplicity adds to the joke
Guys I'm beginning to think Lower Decks is about to end being the only Star Trek show that doesn't have any time travel episodes. I can already see people retroactively saying Crisis Point 2 or the SNW crossover count though (in my eyes they dont)
T'lyn, baby girl, you added yourself didn't you?
Get me 20 pictures of evil Captain Becky Freeman that likes whipping people, stat! (I am down bad)
from the panel today (still ongoing) this makes me think that this
might not be william but instead an alternate timeline brad who stayed on the titan instead of coming back(?) idk…. maybe thatd be why he’s still wearing the titan uniform instead of the section 31 uniform. could also explain the haircut kind of. idk im just spitballin here
Im extremely curious about the idea of them being tasked with closing space rifts. I cant help but take notice that the Cerritos has seemingly been upgraded from doing general Second Contact to actual specific missions regarding the safety of at least parts of the galaxy? Im sure the show will find a way to explain why it's not that prestigious but it still feels like progression for the reputation of the ship and crew imo
Shipping is fun and all but I swear every single time someone makes a comment, whether as a joke or in a legitimate analysis, about there being "no other explanation" for a pair's interactions, I lose just a bit more of my sanity
Like, no, you guys don't get it. Romance is not about the Amount of devotion, it's about the COLOR. the FLAVOR of it all. a character can be just as devoted to their platonic friend as they are to their romantic partner, and they don't love either of them more, just differently.
But because the majority of people still have it stuck in their minds that romance exists on the highest tier of love, I'm stuck seeing endless takes that boil down to "these two care about each other too much for it to NOT be romantic" as if that's the core determining factor to how literally any of this works
In conclusion: stop telling me that I don't understand the story if I don't interpret the leads as romantic, I am TIRED
It was absolutely brutal out there for people not into Marinler in season 3. The amount of people who would legit say Mike McMahan didnt understand his own show because their favourite ship didnt happen was insane
and now moot because Mariner is for T'Lyn, actually
In honour of Lower Decks S5 I redrew an old drawing of William Boimler. I can do a side by side later but I want this to be on its own right now.
Okay, but I do think that Paramount+ is making a serious mistake by cancelling Lower Decks on the grounds that it seems to be the only one of the new series that actually draws in people who weren't already Trekkies.
Also the only show that seems to have a semblance of a general fanbase. It's the only modern Trek show I've seen show up in non-Trek spaces, other than a few more YT channels than usual reviewing Picard Season 3.
Even if the money wasnt lining up, I feel like they missed the value of having the show around, basically for fanbase health and the good press that comes from keeping a critical darling around, like NBC was doing with 30 Rock those last few seasons.
"I'm glad you guys are my friends."

Thank you Star Trek: Lower Decks for placing our no-name officers at the heart of the story. The warp core four have all discovered new and old parts of themselves by standing by each other. Our friends help us drop our defenses, lead, reflect, and be bold... Friendships change us in ways we don't expect, but ways we need.
I think it's silly that the star trek future is still so same-with-same when it comes to alien species. I think a Klingon vessel should comm the enterprise and a random human ensign should go "Oh my god wait are you from the House of Ragh-Tul? No way! That's my cousin's house!" because they recognize the dialect. Like, we're all neighbors in the universe. That Vulcan is your primary school teacher's daughter. You're an Andorian but you have a human name because your dad thought it sounded pretty. This random alien knows how to make kimchi without ever having seen a human because the recipe was part of a trade made decades ago. C'mon man, love thy neighbor with your whole heart!
Lower Decks stays winning, as always.
a little treat for the mariner x t'lyn shippers
Never gonna happen but this is easily the best ship in the show. People call Mariner and Boimler Kirk Spock but this is the true Kirk Spock of the show imo
OMG WAIT IS "LIVE LONG AND PROSPER " LITERALLY JUST "LIVE LAUGH LOVE" FOR VULCANS?!?
