I just realised, Rutherford is now the only one of the original main 4 that hasn't had a stint off the Cerritos since the show starts. I guess even T'Lyn has since she starts the show off the ship. I do think that kind of lines up with him having a lot less going on compared to the other 3.
Get me 20 pictures of evil Captain Becky Freeman that likes whipping people, stat! (I am down bad)
Shipping is fun and all but I swear every single time someone makes a comment, whether as a joke or in a legitimate analysis, about there being "no other explanation" for a pair's interactions, I lose just a bit more of my sanity
Like, no, you guys don't get it. Romance is not about the Amount of devotion, it's about the COLOR. the FLAVOR of it all. a character can be just as devoted to their platonic friend as they are to their romantic partner, and they don't love either of them more, just differently.
But because the majority of people still have it stuck in their minds that romance exists on the highest tier of love, I'm stuck seeing endless takes that boil down to "these two care about each other too much for it to NOT be romantic" as if that's the core determining factor to how literally any of this works
In conclusion: stop telling me that I don't understand the story if I don't interpret the leads as romantic, I am TIRED
It was absolutely brutal out there for people not into Marinler in season 3. The amount of people who would legit say Mike McMahan didnt understand his own show because their favourite ship didnt happen was insane
and now moot because Mariner is for T'Lyn, actually
I think it's silly that the star trek future is still so same-with-same when it comes to alien species. I think a Klingon vessel should comm the enterprise and a random human ensign should go "Oh my god wait are you from the House of Ragh-Tul? No way! That's my cousin's house!" because they recognize the dialect. Like, we're all neighbors in the universe. That Vulcan is your primary school teacher's daughter. You're an Andorian but you have a human name because your dad thought it sounded pretty. This random alien knows how to make kimchi without ever having seen a human because the recipe was part of a trade made decades ago. C'mon man, love thy neighbor with your whole heart!
Lower Decks stays winning, as always.
a little treat for the mariner x t'lyn shippers
Never gonna happen but this is easily the best ship in the show. People call Mariner and Boimler Kirk Spock but this is the true Kirk Spock of the show imo
Happy Star Trek Day to all who celebrate!
I was looking at a bunch of Lower Decks gifs and then I remembered that this year will be our last time seeing them all together like this :(
I used to think that the most out-of-character thing Boimler did was pronounce 'bank' and 'commercial' wrong but then I realized that he probably just read them and pronounced them wrong in his head and now that has become the most in-character thing about him
Boimler being someone that's very well read but basically nothing else experience wise until ending up on the Cerritos makes a lot of sense for him. Tendi, Mariner and Rutherford are all trying to settle down after very rocky and active pasts, but Boimler's story is entirely forward facing. All he has is what's ahead of him. And while typing this I forgot this was about him pronouncing the word bank wrong
Saw a viral tweet and got some Star Trek inspiration

MarinerxT'lyn makes a lot of sense but it's still suspririsng how much people agree. I feel like the show has failed to give us any Tendi/T'lyn moments that feel equivalent to the ones between either of them and Mariner which is a shame since they're supposed to be best science friends.
I like how Mariner has come to represent the Bat'leth in Star Trek just as much as any Klingon that's been around forever
Strength Training.
I started this at the beginning of the season and finished it after the end, and a lot can happen in 10 episodes, apparently. Makes less sense now that they’re dating but this is still funny.
This loops back into making sense again after the season 3 finale

OK HERE IT IS YOU CAN RB THIS VERSION
There’s no better bisexual validation than finding out that you’re these 4 characters combined
“I think he was just so excited that he wasn’t thinking. But in the back of his mind, he misses his friends. He realizes that he left unceremoniously and he feels bad about it for sure.” Drew this up because it works very well, an because Beckett Mariner is extremely relatable to me as a very annoying bisexual.
