Don't know if this information is easy to check for you guys, but if it is, could you check how many hours of C3 we've had so far? (or just how many hours of BH) and compare it to how many hours we've had of M9 and VM?

Thanks for all the hard work btw <3

Thanks for the question! (We love to get these.)

The total running time for Campaign 3 as of Episode 113 is 465 hours, 42 minutes, and 29 seconds. The average episode length is currently 4:07:16.

The total running time for Campaign 1 was 447 hours, 39 minutes, and 45 seconds. The average episode length was 3:55:37.

The total running time for Campaign 2 was 556 hours, 34 minutes, and 24 seconds. The average episode length was 3:56:50.

Some more numbers just for fun:

  • Campaign 3 has already surpassed Campaign 1 (115 episodes long) in run time.
  • After Episode 113 of Campaign 1, that campaign's total run time was 437:40:53.
  • After Episode 113 of Campaign 2, that campaign's total run time was 445:52:31.
  • The first 113 episodes of Campaign 3 are approximately equivalent in run time to the first 118 episodes of Campaign 2.

All of our run time data is available on our running times page. @critrolestats's data for C1 is available here and C2 here. We hope to be able to offer our data in Google Sheets soon as well.

A bit more data:

As of C3E113, the total running time spent with Bell's Hells* is 439 hours, 25 minutes, and 53 seconds. This is roughly equivalent to the run time of the first 113.5 episodes of Campaign 1, or the first 111.5 episodes of Campaign 2.

*(i.e. minus 99-101, the second half of 92, the first half of 93, the second half of 112, and all of 113)

so I took a bite out of a fruit today thinking it was an apple, and I almost spat it out because it was a terrible apple, but then I realized “oh! It’s a pear!” and I ate the entire thing because it was a pretty good pear.

There’s a metaphor in that, but it’s too early in the morning for me to parse it

The mind is what dictates your expectations

in your mind you were expecting an apple having grabbed a fruit without looking at it, your mind has logged in and documented the expected taste of an apple

so when you bit into it and you did not recognize the taste, you immediately thought “oh heck i grabbed and ate a rotten apple, spit it out, prepare for sick!!”

then you actually LOOKED at the fruit and saw a pear so your brain was like …………“oh yeah, this is the taste of a pear”

When I was little, my mom kept a small garden next to our driveway. One year she grew inchelium garlic, which has purple stripes, interspersed with red scallions. My dad was a bit of an oddball who liked raw scallions. One day he got home from work, plucked a red spring onion, cleaned it off with the garden hose, and bit into it like a strawberry.

He went into the living room and told my mom, “honey, I don’t know how this happened. I pulled this right out of the ground, but the onions have gone bad??”

Mom leaned in to kiss him hello, caught a whiff of his breath when he said “bad,” and started laughing. “Bob,” she said, “that’s a head of garlic.”

Ever since then, whenever I’m expecting one thing, get a different thing, freak out, and then realize my mistake, I say to myself “the onions have gone bad??”

once when i was a kid, i poured myself a glass of milk and then gagged when it tasted sour - 'ugh that's the most disgusting milk ever!'

then i realized that it was orange juice

Wow those moves look like someone who’s childhood best friend was an airbender

…Shit, you’re right.

That spin he does. That is an airbendery move.

Literally the exact same move Aang pulls when he gets off his glider (cant find a gif but like… I promise)

This shows attention to detail was unreal.

Even the fall backwards! That looks like the exact kind of thing a fun loving Airbender kid would do while showing off gliders and airbending proficiency.

the best benders in this show tend to be the ones who adapt elements of other bending techniques. Bumi has some airbender-y movements, Zuko and Iroh use some Air and Water movements, even Katara tends to use some earthbender looking moves when bending ice

Meanwhile Toph just took earthbending and cranked it all the way up to 11.

Everyone else: The spice of variety! The four elements make mine stronger! Ballerina time!

Toph:….meTal….bendy bendy

take into account that Toph might not be able to take other bending styles into her own. Because those styles (especially fire and air) require you to lift your feet off the ground and for Toph she would lose her way of connecting to the world like he’s used too.

Toph took earthbending, made it her bitch, and made it adapt to her needs as a disabled person.

oh shit you right.

vague memory of someone else’s analysis, but Toph’s earthbending forms are built on a different discipline than everyone else’s. it’s not so much that she took earthbending and built it up, but that she made up her own.

she did, after all, learn from moles instead of masters
