Hello! Welcome to my blog! I'm Connie, a member of the Tumblr geriatric ward and pop culture enthusiast.

This is my place to blog about my favorite broadcast and streaming shows (Star Trek: Discovery, This is Us, The Flash, Glee, etc.), movies (Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar), actors (Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, and many more), music, food, technology, politics and whatever captures my interest at the moment.

finneasoconnell To the creators, writers, producers, directors, crew members and cast members I was so lucky to get to know and work with in my short time on this incredible show, thank you for giving me an experience I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life. To the fans, thank you for being so incredibly kind to me. You’re all so beautiful. This show lasted six seasons because of YOU. As the wonderful Joaquin Sedillo reminded me on the final day of filming, “Don’t be sad because it’s over, be happy, because it happened.” And boy did it happen. aaaaaamazing. Glee.

Oh I'm doping this exact sale thing ! I felt kinda guilty for being almost silent but I guess we all process differently (also composing with our work schedules and family duties ...)

*nods* I think you hit the nail on the head, We all process things differently, so it’s okay to be silent. In retrospect, after watching last night’s finale, I may have an easier time processing now because the conclusion was so satisfying.

It was, honestly, do you know the famous finale of The Mary Tyler Moore Show where they’re wrapping up and they walk towards the door? It was very similar to that and I don’t think any of us meant for it to be. It was difficult. It’s time for the show to end – I think we all agree. It has been a crazy, emotional, fantastic, exhausting, but fulfilling ride. We all grew up in that choir room in one way or another. It was so hard to say goodbye, much, much harder than I was expecting.

There is something truly magical about the pilot and I think even our harshest critics would agree. Music has always had such a healing quality — just look at all the songs and musicals that showed up post World War II and the Great Depression. Glee happened to air in the peak of a recession. It was such a terrible time, yet this little television show gave so many people something to sing about — everyone was united as they rooted for the club of misfits. It was perfect timing.

I was 18 but my dad was still driving me because I was too afraid to drive in LA at the time. I will never forget – Lea Michele, who I’d never met before, was in a Mini Cooper in front of us pulling onto the lot. I recognized her instantly because I was obsessed with Spring Awakening when I was like 14. We both got turned away because we weren’t allowed to park on the lot. She was in the callback with me and I could hear her singing in the next room over. I went in, and the rest was history. There’s a whole story about how Ryan [Murphy] saw me and said, “Why do I have a feeling you’ve been in The Sound of Music?” I sang and made a joke about my hometown, and the rest is history.

People would make fun of me for my enthusiasm, but I really just liked working on this show. I really enjoyed doing what we got to do. We weren’t in a court room or in an ER, we were in a classroom with young people singing songs. But days that were hard…there were times when I was really sick, and that was so hard. I think I did “Don’t Stop Me Now” with a 103 degree fever. It was murder. But as time passes, the great memories become louder even. You only remember the good memories.

Sure, pop stars and rap stars and rock stars are great, but their fans don't get to experience every single emotional up and down - even from the most social media-savvy singers - the way viewers do with TV characters. This loyalty is also the reason why there are multiple Nashville albums in my car, why I have the Smash soundtrack on my iPod and why I could only wait two days before buying the first Empire CD. But you never forget your first, and Glee will always be my gateway drug...the music will last far beyond Friday's finale for the true fans of the show. For that reason, and so many others, I guarantee you'll still be able to catch me driving around town with the windows listening to Glee on full blast for many years to come. Don't forget to say hello.
