Thoughts of A Sleep Deprived Mind

Hello! Welcome to my blog! I'm Connie, a member of the Tumblr geriatric ward and pop culture enthusiast.

This is my place to blog about my favorite broadcast and streaming shows (Star Trek: Discovery, This is Us, The Flash, Glee, etc.), movies (Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar), actors (Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, and many more), music, food, technology, politics and whatever captures my interest at the moment.

This post The feels. Fun fact: This is the movie that made me want to be a teacher.

That's fantastic! I can definitely understand why. DPS influenced several of my friends to become teachers too. It's an incredible film and ranks as #1 on my favorite movie list. Of the many things, I gained a better appreciation of poetry. :)

Side note: I was devastated by Robin Williams' untimely passing. So incredibly sad.

Thank you darling! :) I am having a wonderful day. Low-key, relaxing, football, family, and my grandmother’s cooking - the recipe for a perfect birthday

That sounds a perfect birthday indeed. :) Glad you had a wonderful birthday!

I’m now selfishly considering my birthday a good luck charm of sorts, because…

  1. Gina Rodriguez won and delivered a beautiful thank you speech.
  2. Transparent won and in a second beautiful speech, we were reminded of the tragic loss of Leelah Alcorn and other trans youth while also seeing how wonderfully beautiful the trans community is.
  3. Matt Bomer won for his breathtaking performance in The Normal Heart, which I’m still cheering about because I’ve been of his for quite some time. That and it really was an amazing performance in an even more amazing film.
  4. The Hollywood Foreign Press demonstrated conviction and resolution in the face of unspeakable violence.

I’m just sitting here, anxiously awaiting the Looking S2 premiere (I get Jonathan Groff for my birthday too! I’m squealing with delight!) and grinning, weepy-eyed, because the Golden Globes this year is showing how magical humanity can be and is amidst strife, violence, and tragedy.

Alright - I’ll step off my soapbox now. I just wanted to share my joy :)

Your birthday must be a good luck charm because Jeffrey Tambor just won for Transparent! And what a great speech!

The Hollywood Foreign Press is clearly making a point - these are stories and characters that represent real and perfectly imperfect and beautiful individuals and communities.

And now Maggie Gyllenhaal’s speech. Holy hell. To complicated - and real - women. I’m just. I’m so inspired by this awards show and here I was only watching for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and the pretty dresses.

Yes, they are! KUDOS to the HFPA!
