get to know me meme: [2/10] favorite movies Dead Poets Society (1989) dir. Peter Weir
“Boys, you must strive to find your own voice. Because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all. Thoreau said, “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.” Don’t be resigned to that. Break out!”
Clarification on Roderick Meeks
So I did some checking on this. I originally saw it on the Glee Wiki, on Roderick’s page - they are usually my go-to for ep info, as I’ve found them really reliable for plot details, songs, original artists of songs, etc. That’s here.
Then, apparently Noah tweeted that Roderick’s last name is Meeks, just two days ago. That’s here.
It wasn’t in the actual credits for the ep …so maybe Noah made that call? We know he loves Tumblr - could he have seen all our Glee/DPS thoughts and just decided that Roderick’s last name was Meeks? Thoughts?
Glee and DPS strikes again
OMG, mshoneysucklepink! So I just got to watch “Child Star,” and I haven’t seen “The Rise and Fall of Sue Sylvester” yet (don’t tell me!), but I was reviewing the songs and credits in “Child Star” this morning, and -
Roderick is Roderick Meeks?! As in Steven Meeks. As in Dead Poets Society. He would have to be Meeks’ grandson! And obviously inherited the bad vision.
(Charlie) Dalton, Blaine Anderson, Roderick Meeks. They are absolutely doing this on purpose now. :)

This post The feels. Fun fact: This is the movie that made me want to be a teacher.
That's fantastic! I can definitely understand why. DPS influenced several of my friends to become teachers too. It's an incredible film and ranks as #1 on my favorite movie list. Of the many things, I gained a better appreciation of poetry. :)
Side note: I was devastated by Robin Williams' untimely passing. So incredibly sad.
Truth. Truth is like, like a blanket that always leaves your feet cold. You push it, stretch it, it’ll never be enough. You kick at it, beat it, it’ll never cover any of us. From the moment we enter crying to the moment we leave dying, it will just cover your face as you wail and cry and scream.

No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.
We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

That iPad Air commercial with John Keating's (Robin Williams) voice over from Dead Poets Society? Absolutely love it. I have a soft spot for DPS.

Can I have an AU where Todd Anderson is Blaine’s grandfather? And after Sadie Hawkins he visits Blaine in the hospital and tells him about Welton and Neil and Professor Keating and Knox and Charlie? And Blaine says he doesn’t want to go back to public school, he wants to go to Welton like Grandpa, and Todd says Welton is too far away but he’ll see what he can find, so he gets ahold of one of his old classmates who knows the headmaster at Dalton…
Neil I, I appreciate this concern, but there’s nothing you can do, so you can just butt out.
Has anyone ever gotten confirmation from RIB that this movie was their complete and total inspiration for Dalton Academy? Because really…
Charlie Dalton Todd Anderson All-boys school with basically the same uniforms
No way that’s all a coincidence.
If they ever answer and say yes, then I will send them a fruit basket out of love.
That would actually make me sob with joy. I love this movie and …. Maybe Oh Captain, My Captain should be teaching glee club instead
I would be thrilled beyond belief if this was true because it's no secret that DPS is one of my all time favorite films.
