He’s such a young man in his own skin without pretense in season four compared to all of the protective styling of earlier seasons. I love all Kurts and all of his clothing choices, but I was just smacked in the face by the simplicity of him in 4x01.
So we ran a little long on our first rewatch podcast, but hell, we were covering three episodes. If you want to check it out, just visit the fyeahgleepodcast channel on YouTube.
2012's Best Episodes: Glee's New Beginnings and Vampire Diaries' New Undead
10. “The New Rachel,” Glee It’s fun to see Rachel’s new life in New York, but Glee’s Season 4 premiere is about so much more. Can the show survive the graduation of eight main characters? Ryan Murphy’s gamble pays off though, as this hour shows us that in addition to successfully juggling geography, it introduces several promising new glee clubbers, most notably Marley Rose, Ryder Lynn and Jake Puckerman. Gold star!

How the It’s Time Scene from “The New Rachel” was scripted to go. These are from the script that was up for auction at The Biggest Show.
Kurt: You really are a star. Blaine: And you’re mine. And you always will be.
So…I’m at this event in LA with the glee people and the guy sitting next to me bought a signed script from The New Rachel. This was the end of the klaine scene. Why would you cut this?!?!
This is why, at the box scene, do what we do… to find gems like this!
Guess who’s back?

(Oh, and I’m not doing 3D videos for awhile.)
The wait is over. GLEE is back!
With Rachel (and now Kurt) in NYC, Finn MIA (hopefully not literally) and the kids of New Directions being top of the McKinley heap (gasp!) – it’s safe to say that change is in the air for GLEE fans.
We covered a lot of ground in last week’s GLEE Premiere ‘You Ask, I Answer’, but now that the episode has aired, I definitely want to hear from YOU!
Was the premiere everything you hoped it would be? Were you digging the new NYC/Lima split? How about tonight’s music? Did you welcome the GLEE newbies with open arms?
The comments are open and I would love to get your dish on the season 4 premiere. Here are a few of my thoughts to get the convo started:
- Concrete jungles where dreams are made of…oh how I love seeing Rachel and Kurt in NYC. It’s like all my dreams of a spinoff came true (minus Blaine’s absence). Kurt and Rachel have come so far in their friendship and now we get to see them live out their new lives together as roomies. When they finally were reunited in the park, I have no problem letting you know that I was a hot mess of tears. LeaMichele absolutely killed the scene when she finally breaks down with Kurt about what life was really like in New York, and for her to just turn around and find her best friend there…damn, I’m going to get emotional again.
- Contrary to popular belief (or at least Twitter belief) I amnotanti-Finchel. In fact, I’m pulling for their happily ever after! With that, I can’t automatically hate on Brody just because he’s not Finn. Shipper feelings aside, Brody seems like a good guy and he’s being a much needed friend to Rachel right now. She’s lost, sad and confused and he has done nothing but support her and guide her as she navigates her new life. Now will he guide her into his bedroom? Only time (andRyan Murphy) will tell, but for now, I’m kind of digging Brody. (Ducking for cover!)
Great observations!
A new season of “Glee” is here, and with that comes Friday morning recaps and “Glee” gifs! In this week’s premiere episode, the cast covered Adele, Carly Rae Jepsen, Imagine Dragons, Lady Gaga and more as Rachel adjusted to New York and the New Directions searched for “The New Rachel.”
Initial thoughts on 4x01
- Overall, I thought it was a solid start to the season, and I enjoyed the episode very much.
- The switch between NYC and Lima was smooth and worked well. Glee has done this before with the Dalton/McK split, so they know the drill.
- I liked Marley a lot.
- I didn't have a problem with "sassy" Blaine. In fact, I found him to be refreshing (more on this later).
- Chris did a wonderful job as usual. I felt Kurt's melancholy.
- Klaine scenes were brief, but wonderful. Loved It's Time.
- Tina's sass was very striking. She's come such an long way since goth!stuttering!Tina of season 1. I can see some parallels between season 1 Tina and Marley.
- Burt and Kurt's scene: Flawless and moving. I sobbed ugly tears. That scene epitomizes Glee.
- Chasing Pavements was a fitting end to the episode, and the theme for the season. Journey of self-discovery and taking risks.
- I really like Brody. It's nice to see his interaction with Rachel.
- Kate Hudson was great.
- Blaine is the ultimate supportive boyfriend. Loved the hints that he'll be joining Kurt in NYC next year. Of course, we already know that, but it's nice to hear it from Blaine. :)
- Loved Rachel's vulnerability.
- Unique's lines were hilarious!
More thoughts to come tomorrow. Need to watch the ep a couple more times before synthesizing a bit more.
Welcome back, Glee! :) You've been missed.
Are you gleeks ready? One week from tonight your favorite show returns with an all new episode that really takes GLEE in a new direction (sorry, I tried to avoid it but I just couldn’t). Fox was kind enough to give me an early look at the ep, and in turn I wanted to share a few teasers with you!
