its easy to make fun of this (and i think we should) but its also important to note the description of this new department that trump has given

to be clear: trump is planning to create a new department whose purpose is literally to deregulate and defund government oversight. this will lead to corporations having greater freedom to fuck over consumers while making more money, and he is putting two billionaires in charge of it.

sure, maybe this is just a ploy to keep them quiet. giving them the illusion of power in exchange for backing him. but lets not forget all the regulations trump cut during his last term

which has directly led to the constant recalls of consumer goods and foodstuffs over the past several years. the recent e coli outbreak at mcdonalds? the boars head listeria recall? these are the products of deregulation. getting rid of laws and standards that protect consumers by making sure money hungry corporations dont cut corners.

Liziqi is a Chinese YouTuber who, as far as I can tell bc her videos don't have narration and any text is untranslated Chinese, lives either in or at least near one of China's many mountain ranges. A lot of the b roll footage in her videos is nature shots of the landscape around her, you can watch one of the latest ones here, and even the mountains that are actually mountains and not karsts look fucking gorgeous and straight out of an ink wash painting, there's a lot of really cool geological features in China (and a lot of really cool flora and fauna too)

i think a lot of liberals need to confront the fact that they don’t actually believe everyone should have basic human rights. a homeless person could call me every slur under the sun and i would still want them to have housing, food, etc. the belief that everyone is entitled to basic human rights should not hinge on whether you “like” someone or not. at that point the entire ideology crumbles.
