we seriously don't talk about the sky ferreira situation enough. her label held her hostage for +10 years they totally sabotaged her career and ruined her life, left her stuck in the purgatory. she wasn't even able to enjoy her 20s because her label took those years away from her, during all this time she was trapped, they blocked everything she did and she couldn't speak up because she could get sued and punished even more. imagine all the things she could have done, all the music she could have released, all the projects shelved during all these years.. all the shit they took from her. and it's just because she didn't want to be a manufactured product to make money off of, because she was smarter than the shitty old men at her label, because she wanted to stay true to herself and make her own art. and after all these years she never gave up, she fought for herself with immense patience and courage. how many artists went through similar situations and had to give up on their careers and dreams because of greedy abusive labels and oppressive contracts? the music industry is evil. #FREESKYFERREIRA
especially when people did exactly what the label wanted by blaming her for the lack of music and her disappearance "it's because she's lazy, she's difficult, she's an addict, she's retired, she's a liar, she's spoiled, she doesn't care, etc" no one stood up for her and supported her so capitol records could keep ruining her career in peace while people attacked her like imagine the state of her mental health after all of this i hate how women are treated in the music industry
