  • bob doesn’t like dressing up, but he looooves throwing an absolute rager
  • honestly i think the socs have a rager on the most convenient friday near the day, while actual halloween is reserved for the boys forcing the girls to watch horror movies 🙂‍↕️

  • there’s a lot of paul and brill jumping out from around the corner and terrifying everyone else (especially bob LMAO)
  • not era accurate but brill is so randy meeks (from scream) coded to me (chet and bob are stu and billy)
  • melvin and sergei are contractually obliged to give paul and chet a piece of candy each if they don’t wanna be completely robbed

okay i'm currently sick actually so i'm gonna focus on the friend group questions LMAO also in case anyone's wondering how i'm coping post rj paul-gate ... i'm not 🫶

  • okay so they'd have to meet each other's friends after dating for a while just because they have to figure out if they're really willing for their friends to know that they're 1. queer 2. dating someone from the other side of town
  • chet meeting darry and pony is ... interesting
  • pony's obviously 14 and kinda hates the socs with a violent passion because they jumped johnny (setting these hcs pre-canon btw so no fountain shenanigans)
  • darry has his own feelings about it all because of how things ended between him and paul
  • but when they see how hard chet's trying, and how softly soda reassures him when he thinks his brothers aren't looking, they're won over immediately
  • when chet accidentally lets it slip that his home life isn't great, it's darry who offers for him to stay the night, which has soda literally bouncing off the walls in happiness because he's so happy that darry's giving chet a chance
  • unfortunately pony is still 14, but he keeps his comments to himself, even if he's squinting at chet the whole time and trying to seem menacing
  • soda meeting bev and brill?? oh dude
  • well chet's first mistake was interrupting them at the drive-in to pull them away right to the back to meet soda
  • bev was already pissed off
  • when chet introduces them to soda and says "we're kinda going steady" brill is literally 🧍 "oh"
  • honestly brill's replaying every single interaction he's had with chet where someone's tried to set him up with a girl and chet just went "nope!"
  • bev immediately goes off on one about how chet should know better than to date a greaser (but she has no issue with him being queer !! ), which soda was expecting, but chet's just kinda there like ☹️ because he was really holding out hope
  • and when bev and brill notice he looks really upset, and like he's trying not to cry, they immediately swoop in to comfort him and promise that they don't think of him any differently
  • bev says she'd be willing to give soda a chance, meanwhile brill is already exchanging contact details with him because he is a sociable diva 🫶

bev and brill my 'honey' warriors 🫶 the only other nickname i can see between them is brill affectionately calling bev 'blondie', but that's not really a pet name sooo ???

bob sheldon you are never beating the simp agenda under my watch,,, bob calling cherry 'beautiful' and 'baby' but with the same tone people use to talk to dogs purely because he is sooo in love !! cherry calling him 'sweetie' and he pretends to hate it when they're with the others, but in private he's going 🫵 say it again

trip calling marcia 'sweetheart' because he picked it up from his parents ☹️ and marcia calling him 'handsome' (and his cheeks get sooo red every time because he's so flattered that someone so pretty thinks he's handsome) 🫶

bonus: ace calls two-bit 'fuckhead' 🫶

starting with the main socs !!

  • robert "bob" sheldon (17?); there's a lot of info on bob in the book which i'd really recommend reading because i fear people love to forget he's not just ... evil; he's pretty aggressive and violent, but is mentioned to have a softer side !!
  • paul holden (20, but dan berry says he's 17 in the musical ... dan berry is wrong); a lot of info on paul depends on who you ask !! he's been fleshed out quite a bit by the fandom but i'd recommend checking out some @qprpbj writing if you wanna gather some thoughts on his personality !!
  • sherri "cherry" valance (16); her parents fight a lot and her dad is a drunk so she's very in tune with the fact that socs aren't really all that, and she's pretty well educated on the social divide !!

ensemble soc time hehehe 🫶 i have headcanons up about all of the ensemble socs if that would help !! mostly listing just the canon stuff about them so i don't get carried away with my hcs again 🫡

  • chet baker (17?); this is my son and i love him very much he is silly; my personal hc is that his dad is the chief of police !!
  • clark "brill" brillstein (17?); silly silly goofy goober; madly in love with bev
  • terrence "trip" dipp (17?); everything i know about him comes from my own brain i fear
  • marcia (17); cherry's best friend ! she's a pretty big gossip and knows everyone's business !!

i've gone into it very briefly before but very very happy to go into it again bc i love my boys 🫶

  • i've mentioned that i hc bob and brill living two doors down from each other and honestly ?? i think they were probably introduced by their parents when they were really young, but they properly became friends when they were like 7 and started hanging out together more at school, where they met ...
  • CHET BAKER
  • bob and chet honestly fight over something really petty like wanting to play with the same toys, and brill swoops in and saves the day by suggesting they all play together (brill will continue to be the problem solver for the rest of his life) and thus the initial trio was FORMED
  • trip enters the equation once they're maybe 10 or 11, and at first he's really quiet so bob and chet do all the talking for him during a group project, but once he starts hanging out with them more, he starts opening up and joins in with the stupidity (10 year old brill is so stressed)
  • the boys all join the football team once they start high school which is how they meet paul !! i have a little post about this too hehe
  • paul's already got quite the reputation as being one of the star players on the team, and god forbid chet allows anyone a moment of peace
  • he is marching STRAIGHT up to paul and going 🫵 TEACH ME YOUR WAYS I WISH TO BE BETTER AT FOOTBALL
  • and suddenly paul is just 🧍 swarmed by four freshmen 🧍

okay so very sorry for the wait but i 🧍 had to go to a funeral so 🧍

  • unfortunately there’s a perfect amount of soc boys left to carry the coffin sooo … sorry boys
  • it’s obviously a soc-only event
  • cherry gives a little speech, and so does paul. chet was invited to, but i don’t think he does speak
  • all the soc boys + bev and marcia are sitting together, while cherry is sitting with her parents (+ bob’s parents) instead
  • the socs do try to speak to cherry, but she’s already started focusing heavily on the fact that the boys were all there and were part of the reason johnny had to do what he did
  • she does talk to marcia though
  • i think once everyone heads back to the sheldons’ afterwards, it gets awkward fast for the socs
  • everyone except cherry sits in bob’s room together and then suddenly cherry walks in
  • brill and chet try to ask how she’s doing and if there’s anything they can do for her, but she doesn’t say anything, and just sits down on the bed next to paul

sorry for the wait i have been busy pondering 😔

  • they're everyone's worst nightmare 😔 trip is punching the floor every time he gets put with the two of them in a group project that's his nightmare blunt rotation actually
  • speaking of blunt rotations,,, i've been pondering about stoner bev a lot recently and i feel like chet just isn't capable of messing with her the same way she does with him LMAO
  • she's just very chill when she's high and can get a little spacey, but she's not as easily wound up as chet can be
  • guys i know we always focus on them annoying the shit out of each other,, but what about their sweet moments ☹️
  • bev cheering for chet as well as brill during football games ☹️ and chet always telling her she did a great job cheering once the game is over, even if their team lost ☹️
  • once chet's older sister moved out (before moving back in), chet gave bev a lot of the stuff she left behind (mostly old clothes and makeup), and bev still has a few bits of clothing in her closet even if they don't fit anymore because the thought was there
  • sometimes bob and paul try to convince brill that chet MUST have a crush on bev, but brill knows better (he's not insecure 🫶)
  • instead of being weird about it, brill's just genuinely so delighted that his girlfriend and his best friend get along so well, he's the human embodiment of 🥰

i've done a very paul-focused version but answering this with no bias 🫡

  • they're sooo t-birds coded to me 🧍 not the greaser part,, like the way they interact with each other
  • they all bicker a lot but it's all in good fun !!
  • there's a fair amount of name-calling, but again it's not in a malicious way !! even if everyone's go-to thing for chet is calling him a drunk 🧍
  • when it comes to teasing each other, they're very good at avoiding mentioning anything that's considered "out of bounds" (like chet's home life, the girls, or paul's dad)
  • soc boy study group you will always be famous to me 🙏
  • they trust each other wholeheartedly (unless bob or paul are drunk bc they can get a lil mean when they're emotional)
  • i've posted a lot about chet & brill being besties, and paul & bob are besties, but that does NOT mean trip is left behind !!! there being two pairs of best friends does not mean trip isn't close with them ! trip's equally close with everyone, but he's probably closer with the girls thanks to all the time he spends with marcia 🫶
  • brill's the only one with like a proper open door policy (trip's parents are strict, and it depends on bob and paul's parents), so the brillsteins' usually has at least 2 other socs showing up throughout the day

  • brill and marcia (he kissed the back of her hand)
  • chet and trip (chet kissed trip's forehead, but there was wrestling involved to get to that point)

mrs brillstein 🫶

  • so again, in my head brill is the eldest of three boys, but he (even though he is sillyyyy) always helps him mom out !!
  • his 14 year old brother made the football team !! so brill very willingly drives him home, singing his praises to bev, while he and chet offer him tips on how to improve :)
  • mrs brillstein originally worried brill would be a little embarrassed to be seen with his little brother when brill is quite well-known in tulsa
  • but every time they come back from football practice, brill is the first one running up to her and their dad, and telling them how well his brother did !!
  • mrs brillstein really wishes she had a daughter - NO hate to her boys, she's just sooo outnumbered bless her
  • so when bev started staying over regularly, brill had to come to terms with the fact that she'd be stealing bev away all the time
  • however !! like i've said before, brill is dead set on marrying bev, and he's so happy to know that his mom especially loves her so much
  • cough cough mrs brillstein gave brill her mother's engagement ring so he can give it to bev some day cough cough

  • ok so let's say the whole gang is rocking up to a party, having been invited by paul (it's mostly his college friends there, so the socs are sticking together like glue !! )
  • underage drinking and weed smoking is afoot 🤨
  • paul's unfortunately a little busy entertaining his college friends, so chet is stuck seventh wheeling the poor guy 🙏
  • it's awkward enough already, but when all of his friends are drunk and start making out with their respective partners, chet realises that it was in fact possible that it could get more awkward
  • he can't really help it, but everyone's distracted, so he finds himself watching cherry, even though she's got her arms wrapped around bob's neck, and he's whispering in her ear
  • chet blurts out some lame excuse of needing fresh air, and he marches away, not stopping until he's outside with a cigarette between his lips
  • brill's at his side almost instantly, and chet only has to give him a glance out of the side of his eye, and brill knows what's going on
  • and chet can't help but feel the slightest bit embarrassed, even though he knows brill won't say anything he shouldn't, and brill stays quiet when chet lets a few tears slip down his cheeks
  • he goes to speak, but brill doesn't let him, instead just handing over the flask of liquor from his pocket
  • paul finds them outside, and decides they're clearly not partying hard enough, so he drags the two into a circle that's forming with a joint being passed around it
  • unfortunately, it doesn't do chet any good, and he quickly finds himself feeling increasingly anxious
  • his heart's racing a hundred miles an hour, and he's finding that the leather of the couch he's sat on with his friends is sticking to the skin of his arms in a way that has him folding them tight over his chest
  • he's a little too quiet, and brill takes note of that right away
  • brill apologises to their friends, especially to bev, and announces he's taking chet home, and he throws one of chet's arms around his own shoulder as he helps him up and leads him to the door
  • by the time they get back to brill's house, chet's sobered up considerably, but he's been crying for the whole walk and his throat is raw, so brill sets him down on the couch and gets him a glass of water
  • by the time he's back from the kitchen, brill feels his heart ache a little for his best friend, who's asleep now, tear tracks staining his cheeks
