A friendly reminder to USians: if you are planning to vote on Election Day, your mantra is "Nothing I see today convinces me not to go vote."

Exit polls suggest DT cannot be caught? YOU STILL GO VOTE.

Exit polls suggest KH has it in the bag? YOU STILL GO VOTE.

Pundits are saying the country is swinging overwhelmingly red? YOU STILL GO VOTE.

Pundits are saying the country is swinging overwhelmingly blue? YOU STILL GO VOTE.

Polls can be misleading (intentionally or not). The methodology can be biased (or simply poor). Early results may not reflect what the full count will show. There may be a red mirage. NOTHING YOU SEE CONVINCES YOU NOT TO VOTE.

The biggest Democratic win in swing states means nothing if democrats don't turn out everywhere to keep the reliably blue states blue.

VOTE. Wear appropriate weather gear if you think you may have to stand in a line outside (coat, hat, gloves, umbrella, sunhat, whatever, you know where you live). Bring water and a snack and something to do (book, game on your phone, podcast and headphones, whatever, you know what you like). GO VOTE.

NOTHING YOU SEE ON ELECTION DAY CONVINCES YOU NOT TO VOTE.

Article is from 2020, but parts of it still apply to varying degrees (early voting and absentee votes are still expected to be higher than pre-COVID this year, and those votes are not well-accounted for by exit polls). Plus, the excerpt below is applicable every year:

Even under ideal conditions, exit polls can be misleading. People often use them to suss out the horse race while waiting for results to get insight into who’s winning, but exit polls aren’t intended to be used this way. Really, what they’re designed to do is help explain how a candidate won after everything is said and done, breaking down a candidate’s support using various demographic variables like gender, race and education. (For example, they made it really easy to tease out how the gender gap between Democratic and Republican support has grown with time.) But exit polls should not be used as a way to gauge a candidate’s support in real time. For starters, exit poll numbers can — and do — change over the course of election night, so you should be especially skeptical of the earliest exit-poll numbers, typically released around 5 p.m. Eastern. By definition, this first wave of exit polls are incomplete: Polling places are still open, and who’s represented in the electorate could change. For example, people who vote early on Election Day tend to be older than the electorate at large, which can skew the numbers some.

TL;DR: exit polls aren't actually designed to predict the winner of the election, so don't let them influence your choice to vote.

I think that the main problem with all of the scrapped Tron ideas/scripts that keep popping up every few years is that they keep focusing on the wrong characters/stories.

I feel like not many people who like Tron actually care about Sam Flynn. People care more about Quorra, but I think that interest in her falls short as well. And not a single soul wants Jared Leto anywhere NEAR this franchise.

The next Tron movie should be a Rinzler movie.

First of all, people WANT more of Tron himself and have been saying so since Legacy came out. One of the things that made Uprising great was Tron’s involvement in, well, Tron. Plus, this is Tumblr so I don’t need to go into how insane Tron fans have gotten over Rinzler for the past decade.

I want to see how Tronzler copes with his split self. I want to see his flashbacks and fractured, contextless memories of his time as Tron. (kinda like the ones he had at the end of legacy). I want to see what he went through to be reprogrammed. I want to see how he copes with his life as gladiator and elite soldier. How does he deal with all of the derezzing he has to do? I want to see a deep dive into his relationship and dynamic with CLU. How does Rinzler act when he’s alone? Where does the purring come from? Does Jarvis hate him as much as I think he does?

Maybe some of this was answered by Uprising and I just don’t remember (It’s been a decade since I’ve seen that show).

Anyways I just think the whole Tronzler thing is super interesting and unexplored in official media. It would be interesting to see what Disney writers come up with and which fan theories they humor. Plus I neeeeeeeed more “Rinzler being a freak” content.

Wait I have one more thing to add!

I wanna see an exploration of Rinzler’s relationship with the grid’s population as a whole. I think that a lot of the grid obviously fears him and scatters from his path when he goes anywhere. (Exploration of loneliness???)

But also, Legacy implies that he’s an insanely popular athlete with legit fans. Kinda like if Tom Brady was also the head of the FBI. So I wanna see how his “celebrity status” treats him. I just KNOW Tron City’s paparazzi business is BOOMING!

In my mind I have a very specific scene where Rinzler is off with CLU doing Bad Guy Business™️ and gets his picture randomly taken Britney Spears style. This triggers battle mode (and other confusing emotions) and he launches himself at the guy like an attack dog. CLU has to very intensely and angrily call him off the guy before he derezzes him.

answering a couple questions i got on this post since i realized ppl genuinely wanna know:

tl;dr:

  1. israel lets very, very little aid get into gaza. even the UN can't get in as much as they want to. funding individual families, gazan led initiatives, and mutual aid collectives operating out of gaza ensures gazans can provide for themselves and pay for the extremely expensive aid that is available.
  2. with all the civil infrastructure destroyed by israel, the situation on the ground has devolved into unrestricted capitalism, driving up the price of aid (that should be free!). this makes it more urgent for people to have funding for daily survival.

the post linked above has examples of how donating to individual families can help a lot. if you want to help more than one family at a time, there are many gazan-led initiatives focusing on rebuilding their infrastructure and distributing aid fairly that are worth donating to instead of large charities that already get the majority of donations.

as i mentioned in the last post: @/careforgaza on twitter is a nonprofit started by gazans, it's been endorsed by multiple palestinian journalists.

the sameer project is a collective organized by diaspora palestinians offering emergency shelter to gazans.

ele elna elak is a project aiming to bring water, food, shelter, etc. to gazans and has been promoted by bisan owda.

all of these organizations are active inside gaza right now and are being run by gazans. if anyone knows of other gazan-led mutual aid projects, nonprofits or charities feel free to link them in the notes! hope this helped!

long answers under the cut!

plugging gaza soup kitchen for those with the means to donate! it's another gazan-led initiative currently providing food, water, classes for children, and medical care across the north and south. you can donate through their website or their gofundme, or follow them on instagram for news about their projects
