Pretty Woman (1990), dir. Garry Marshall
Hackle is dear to me because we have so much established context in the show as well as from interviews. I can't remember where this interview is but I remember Raquel talking about how Hecate and Ada are visually made to be opposites. Raquel is the same height as Clare but they put her in heels so Hecate is towering and Ada is short. Clare wears padding to appear bigger than she is, rounder and softer in contrast with Hecate's thin sharpness. In all ways they should be opposites. But they are completely on the same wavelength, sharing the same values and being the two people who love the academy the most. Ada was destined to run the academy, and I think this would have given her the utmost empathy for Hecate's situation. It's my headcanon that she was the first person to learn about Indigo and instrumental in helping her move forward. While we can only fill in the blanks, their dynamic points to one of mutual respect and a decades long devotion to each other and the school. Their relationship would have to be pretty strong to run a school together day in and day out. And I will never get over Raquel's acting choices when it comes to Ada throughout the entire show but especially from the get go when she evidently changed the script in episode one where Hecate is supposed to react with indifference to Ada being saved from Agatha, and instead Hecate's reaction is one of intense relief and soft devotion. She's been saying gay rights since episode 1 and for that I will stan forever
Why aren’t you in there delighting the damsels? I don’t know, Lord Alfred. Why aren’t you?

How we need that security. How we need another soul to cling to, another body to keep us warm. To rest and trust; to give your soul in confidence: I need this. I need someone to pour myself into.

promise me that you’ll come and find me.

But you’ll never be alone I’ll be with you from dusk till dawn (x2) Baby, I’m right here I’ll hold you when things go wrong I’ll be with you from dusk till dawn (x2)
Not to sound dramatic but this is the song that was playing when I saw the spoiler of them kissing so I’m literally crying rn
“And perhaps it is the greater grief, after all, to be left on earth when another is gone.” ― Madeline Miller, The Song of Achilles
You know what I love most about the Drumfred kiss?
That it was so pure. It wasn’t sexualized in any way. It was pure romance and bliss, two people finally happy and together. Two people in love.
It’s what’s completely normal when it comes to het couples, that’s usually the moment it all builds up to and everyone is counting on. And they did the same here, with a wonderful development of their attraction over the entire season and then let the kiss be the culmination, the expression of that love.
Sure it can lead to “more”, but it is super important to show that when it comes to queer people it’s not all about sex, an impression that often seems to be deeply rooted in people’s perception of LGBT people. No. What’s important is that it is about two people who are in love, and who share a moment of pure joy and passion and happiness. It’s important to normalise that, and they did a splendid job with Alfred and Drummond.
On that note, I’m in love with their love.
