The Celts viewed autumn as the end of the year, for them this was the darkest season of all, riddled in endings and being confronted with the shadow of our past selves just as the liminal space between worlds of the old and of the new loomed over them. They had no choice but celebrate the dance of death and rebirth, to say their prayers and goodbyes to the ghosts of the past, it was the only way to make peace with them and move forward into the new year.
This whole aesthetics trend is meant to be a fun way to romanticize various aspects of your life. But they are not meant to define you, to represent all of you, because when you let yourself be defined by something, you are inevitably giving it permission to cage you into a limited construct, into an unrealistic ideal that is always meant to be cool and consumable and visually pleasing. And you’re more than that. Romanticize your life and your identity because it can be so much fun and adds a spark of magic to mundane daily life! But don’t let it restrain you from the incredible, amazing complexity of human existence simply because you're so eager to belong to a community that you're willing to shrink or deny aspects of yourself just to fit in somewhere.
