Lumen’s Skincare Routine

Morning:

  1. Refresh: splash face with cold/icy water for a couple of minutes.
  2. Toner: spray rosewater toner over face and neck.
  3. Moisturizer: apply a light oil (sweet almond or rosehip oil) to maintain moisturized skin as well as help in the next step with massage.
  4. Massage: use Rose Quartz face roller methodically, always starting from neck to the top of my forehead. This helps with: puffiness, lymph drainage, skin elasticity and just all around feels amazing in the morning, especially if you run the roller under cold water. Also, I heard in a specialist’s video that your skin is ‘open to suggestion’, and it’s true. These daily movements / exercises / massages sculpt your face with time (within reason).
  5. Perfume (an optional yet luxurious step): as last step I like to apply DIY oil-based roller perfume on my pulse points, namely the sides of my neck and wrists. It’s my signature self-made perfume containing my favorite elements and was so much fun to create, as well as easy. You just need a scent-free oil base (like sweet almond, or grapeseed) and add 5-10 drops of preferred essential oils - and voila, done.

Night:

  1. Cleanser: natural, gentle soap which is free of preservatives, fragrance, etc.
  2. Toner: a few sprays of rosewater or hazelwater.
  3. Moisturizer: a serum I created from multiple oils (argan, sweet almond, avocado).
  4. Massage: depending on my mood, I will use a Gua Sha jade for methodical face massage, or just use my hands following the same movements. Whether jade roller, Gua sha or massage via hands, this is always done after applying moisturizer/oils on the skin, otherwise you’re just tugging and scraping at your skin.
