lucy pov vs audience pov
book spoilers ahead!!! mostly for TEG
sorry this post is long lol but it’s basically talking about scenes that weren’t necessarily covered due to where the POV is
so you know how with the Bickerstaff’s case, we don’t have a POV of lockwood fighting above ground bc lucy (and her POV) is downstairs with george, joplin, kipps and the bone glass
but when show comes to this plot point we (the audience) have a view of it because it’s more a third person/audience pov?
In TEG when L&Co. are back from the Other Side and emerge from the Fittes basement gate, they run into Sir Rupert Gale who engages them in a fight. Within that scene, L&Co. throw flares at the Fittes source columns causing said columns to break (releasing the ghosts/sources) and basically causing the room to fall upon itself. A particular pillar falls causing Lucy to separate from the group, and she ends up running away from the entrance because a ghost is in the way of her escape out with the others. The POV stays with her (as all the books are) so the only thing we see next is her confrontation with Marissa. It was absolutely thrilling and I wouldn’t change it for anything, butttttt…
and so not to sound like a broken record but with the show cancellation we were robbed (robbed!!) of viewing that scene as an audience!!! like can u imagine seeing the Fittes house part post column fall from an audience/ third person POV where we see
Lockwood + company (minus lucy) on the other side of the pillar!!!
l&co. fighting to survive the crumbling infrastructure + sir rupert gale + his men
them surviving then realizing lucy isn’t with them!! THE EMOTIONAL ANGST
lockwood going crazy in that cool calm collected way of his and getting to lucy upstairs
can u tell I’ve finished my TEG reread :(
